Ahead of Lok Sabha elections, Congress leader Rahul Gandhi on Saturday addressed an election rally in Maharashtra`s Bhandara district. Funds for marginalised groups: Rs 22 crore left unutilised in 2022-23 | Ahmedabad News

Gujarat indicated at a better utilisation of funds provisioned for the development of SC, ST (Scheduled Tribes), and OBCs (Other Backward Classes) in 2022-23 compared to the previous year, even as Rs 22 crore was left unutilised of the Rs 3,000-odd crore that was allocated in the financial year 2022-23, the state government submitted in response to a question. In response to the question by Congress MLA Kanti Kharadi on budgetary provision utilisation of the Social Justice and Welfare Department for the amount provisioned for the development of SC, ST, and OBCs, the state submitted that of the Rs 2,470 crore provisioned in the budget in 2021-22, funds worth Rs 30.97 crore were left unutilised. The year 2022-23 saw a better utilisation – of Rs 3,085 crores provisioned in the budget, Rs 22 crores was left unutilised. The state government, giving its reasons for the non-utilisation of the budget, submitted that owing to COVID-19 in the year 2021-22, students were not in hostels, ashramshalas, government hostels, or residential schools, and coaching classes too were halted. …

Maharashtra minister Chhagan Bhujbal who has allegedly accused the state government of facilitating the backdoor entry of the Maratha community into the OBC quota, on Saturday reportedly disclosed that he had tendered his resignation from the state cabinet last November, reported the PTI. Vokkaliga leaders demand 12% reservation in govt jobs and college admissions | Bengaluru

Under the leadership of state Revenue Minister R Ashoka, they submitted a memorandum to Chief Minister Basavaraj Bommai here. Along with the call for reservations, the leaders also put forth some other demands for the welfare of the community.
