Did Mackenzie Shirilla practice route before accident? The Crash draws ire for shock omission

Netflix’s new true‑crime documentary The Crash revolves around the story of a 100‑mph wreck in Ohio that killed two young people. The film dives into the trial, the legal strategy, and the life of Mackenzie Shirilla, the teen driver behind the wheel. Netflix’s The Crash explores the ongoing fight by Steve Shirilla and Natalie Shirilla to overturn their daughter’s murder conviction. (Screenshot- X) However, many viewers say the documentary misses out on the crucial point that prosecutors highlighted in court. Whether Shirilla had driven the same stretch of road in the weeks before the fatal crash. That detail could shape how audiences see her actions, but it is not clearly addressed in the film, many critics say. Bombay HC dismisses PIL over the omission of ‘Chhatrapati’

The Bombay High Court on Thursday dismissed a public interest litigation (PIL) petition filed by an NGO, seeking a stay on the theatrical release of the upcoming film Raja Shivaji starring Riteish Deshmukh. About the PIL The PIL was reportedly filed by the NGO named Sree Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj Foundation, taking objection to the omission of the honorific title ‘Chhatrapati’ from the name of the movie. The petition claimed that it was disrespectful towards the 17th-century Maratha ruler Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj, on whom the movie is based. ‘Wasn’t aware of omission until squad announcement’: Jitesh Sharma opens up on ‘heartbreaking’ T20 World Cup snub | Cricket News

‘Wasn’t aware of omission until squad announcement’: Jitesh Sharma opens up on ‘heartbreaking’ T20 World Cup snub | Cricket News

India wicket-keeper Jitesh Sharma revealed that he was left heartbroken upon learning about his snub from the 15-member T20 World Cup 2026 team, a day after being in the T20I contingent in Ahmedabad during the South Africa series in December. The 32-year-old Jitesh earned a comeback into the T20I fold in September 2025 as India began their preparatory bid for the World Cup with the Asia Cup tournament in the United Arab Emirates. While he remained as back-up to Sanju Samson during the tournament, Jitesh soon pipped the Kerala batter after his indifferent form in the middle-order during the Australia tour. The Royal Challengers Bengaluru finisher then played seven games in succession, including India’s last T20I in Ahmedabad. However, a day later, Jitesh found himself out of the rejigged T20I squad unveiled by the chairman of selectors, Ajit Agarkar. India dropped Jitesh along side vice captain Shubman Gill as they recalled Ishan Kishan as the backup opener-cum-wicket-keeper alongside finisher Rinku Singh. Recalling the snub in an interaction with CricTracker, Jitesh said:  “I wasn’t aware of …

‘No. 3 position carries special status’: Michael Atherton reacts to Ollie Pope’s omission from England’s playing XI for Boxing Day Test against Australia | Cricket News

‘No. 3 position carries special status’: Michael Atherton reacts to Ollie Pope’s omission from England’s playing XI for Boxing Day Test against Australia | Cricket News

Former England captain Michael Atherton has backed the decision to omit batter Ollie Pope from the playing XI for the Boxing Day Test against Australia in Melbourne. The 57-year-old felt that the right-hander had looked “insecure” at number three, adding that his omission from the side might make head coach Brendon McCullum think that everything was falling apart. “Removing him from the firing line is the right call. The No3 position carries special status in Australia, because it is often where their best players have batted, as opposed to No4 in an England side, but Pope has looked too insecure in what is a vital position. After three poor Tests, his average away from home has dropped below 30, and against Australia it is a paltry 17.” “Putting Pope at No3 was the first big call that Brendon McCullum made as head coach, and dropping him will be a painful reminder of how everything is falling apart,” Atherton wrote in ‘The Times’. He felt that Jofra Archer’s absence from the last two Tests was a …

Shubman Gill informed about omission by Ajit Agarkar from T20 World Cup squad after selection committee meeting | Cricket News

Shubman Gill informed about omission by Ajit Agarkar from T20 World Cup squad after selection committee meeting | Cricket News

Shubman Gill came to know about his omission from the T20 World Cup squad only after the decision had been formalised by selection committee, when chief selector Ajit Agarkar communicated it to him. Going into Saturday’s meeting, the place of incumbent T20I vice captain Gill – who had been short of runs and plagued by injury of late – was expected to be a point of discussion, but whether the panel would leave him out altogether was far from certain. After a neck problem that surfaced during the first Test against South Africa, a toe injury put him out of the last two T20Is against the Proteas. That Gill was informed after the event is significant as he is the skipper of the Test and ODI teams. “You’re looking at combinations at the moment. Someone has to miss out when you take 15. And unfortunately, it’s him (Gill). It’s not because he’s not a good player,” Agarkar explained the decision. With the team under Surykumar Yadav and Gautam Gambhir not compromising on the all-attacking approach, …

India’s T20 World Cup squad: Shubman Gill’s omission a result of preferring specific combinations over reputation | Cricket News

India’s T20 World Cup squad: Shubman Gill’s omission a result of preferring specific combinations over reputation | Cricket News

With less than 50 days to go for their T20 World Cup title defence, India announced a squad that left many surprised, particularly with the omission of Shubman Gill. The 26-year-old had been appointed vice-captain in August ahead of the Asia Cup 2025, but his absence now signals a clear shift in approach from the team management. Gill, who has struggled in the format since returning for the continental event earlier this year, continues to wait for his first appearance in the T20 marquee event, The move is indicative of a modern T20 philosophy built around flexibility, depth, and clearly defined roles rather than reputations. Captain Suryakumar Yadav and the others in the team management appear to have prioritised balance across all three phases of the game – powerplay, middle overs, and death – while keeping multiple tactical options open depending on conditions. Samson backed as opener Suryakumar and chief selector Ajit Agarkar stressed repeatedly that Gill’s omission was down to wanting a wicketkeeper-batter in the top order, which opens the door for Sanju Samson …

Ajit Agarkar on Shubman Gill’s omission from T20 World Cup squad: We know what a quality player he is, but, perhaps short of a little bit of runs at the moment | Cricket News

Ajit Agarkar on Shubman Gill’s omission from T20 World Cup squad: We know what a quality player he is, but, perhaps short of a little bit of runs at the moment | Cricket News

Chief selector Ajit Agarkar stressed on fielding the right combinations for the upcoming T20 World Cup and acknowledged former T20I vice captain Shubman Gill’s lack of runs which led to his omission from the World Cup squad. Gill was appointed the deputy of skipper Suryakumar Yadav ahead of September’s Asia Cup but hasn’t fired with the bat. In the recently concluded South Africa series, he made 4, 0 and 28 before missing the fifth match because of an injury. “We know what a quality player he is, but, perhaps short of a little bit of runs at the moment. It’s unfortunate to have missed out in the last World Cup as well because we went with different combinations. But it’s the combinations more than anything else…Someone has to miss out when you pick 15 and unfortunately, it’s Gill at this point,” said Agarkar in the press conference for India’s squad announcement on Saturday. “We are looking at the combination. If the keeper is going to bat at the top, at the moment Jitesh is there …

Australia head coach McDonald responds to Lyon’s ‘filthy’ omission in Brisbane Test

Australia head coach McDonald responds to Lyon’s ‘filthy’ omission in Brisbane Test

After the star Australian spinner Nathan Lyon expressed his disappointment over his non-selection in the playing XI for the Pink-Ball Test against England at the Gabba in Brisbane, Australia head coach Andrew McDonald reasoned Lyon’s snub and said the team still do “value spin”. “I’ll make this a headline: We still do value spin,” McDonald told reporters on Tuesday. “The surfaces have pushed us in different directions. That’s the first game that Nathan’s missed in Australia for a long time. Has his impact been as great as previous seasons with the surfaces that we’re playing on? Potentially not,” he added. Earlier, Lyon minced no words and displayed his disappointment, saying he had not yet been able to bring himself to speak to selectors about the decision. When asked for his opinion, he summed up his feelings bluntly: “Absolutely filthy,” he told the official broadcaster Channel 7, using local slang for anger. “But yeah, can’t do anything about it. So, I hope I can play my role in making sure I get the guys ready and …

Gautam Gambhir fires sharp retort on Shreyas Iyer’s omission from India squad for England Tests | Cricket News

Gautam Gambhir fires sharp retort on Shreyas Iyer’s omission from India squad for England Tests | Cricket News

India head coach Gautam Gambhir avoided answering questions on Shreyas Iyer not being included in the squad for their upcoming tour of England. While most inclusions and exclusions in the 18-member squad for the five-match Test series were largely on expected lines, including the announcement of  Shubman Gill as the new captain, Iyer’s exclusion despite his stellar form in ODI cricket in particular raised a few eyebrows. “I am not a selector,” was Gambhir’s terse reply when he was about Iyer by a journalist while addressing the media. Shreyas Iyer’s last Test match was in February 2024 against England in Visakhapatnam. In the time since, Iyer played a crucial role in India’s Champions Trophy victory, finishing as the team’s highest run scorer with 243 runs in five matches. He was also in sensational form in the Ranji Trophy, scoring 480 runs in the seven innings he batted for Mumbai at an average of 68.57 with two centuries. Sreesanth issued show cause notice by KCA for ‘false and defamatory’ statements over Sanju Samson omission | Cricket News

Sreesanth issued show cause notice by KCA for ‘false and defamatory’ statements over Sanju Samson omission | Cricket News

The Kerala Cricket Association (KCA) has issued a show cause notice to former India cricketer S Sreesanth for making “false and defamatory” statements against the association in a television show. Sreesanth had questioned KCA on their decision to overlook Sanju Samson from the domestic white-ball season for Kerala. Samson was reportedly omitted from India’s ICC Champions Trophy 2025 squad for not playing the Vijay Hazare tournament. KCA said its show cause notice was not for Sreesanth showing support to Samson, but for “making false and defamatory statements” which, KCA said, was a violation of his contractual terms as the co-owner of the Kollam Sailors franchise in the Kerala Cricket League. In its response to Sreesanth’s comments, KCA brought up the infamous spot-fixing case against Sreesanth to say that it always supported players, even if they were in jail, which was a dig at the former India pacer. Story continues below this ad “When Sreesanth was in jail facing allegations in the infamous match-fixing scandal, KCA officials visited and supported him. Although the court quashed the …
