The Athletics Federation of India (AFI), in a new rule, has made it mandatory for all athletes to get approval from them before entering into a contractual agreement with any sponsor or third party. In a letter dated 2 April, 2026, the AFI noted that the rule has been introduced due to “increasing instances of athletes and coaches frequently changing sponsors.” “The objective is to safeguard the interests of both athletes and sponsors,” the letter read. “Sponsors are also advised to proceed with the execution of any agreement only after confirming with AFI that the athlete has obtained the requisite approval. AFI will send the confirmation within 3 days from the date of the request,” it further read. The letter undersigned by AFI’s officiating secretary G Srinibas Patnaik was addressed to all their affiliate units, the AFI chief coach, and organisations like JSW, Reliance, GoSports, ONGC, and OGQ – all of whom support athletes in various capacities. All seven people on board an air ambulance were killed when the aircraft crashed near Simaria in Jharkhand`s Chatra district. The deceased have been brought to a hospital for post-mortem examination, officials said on Tuesday, reported PTI.  The Beechcraft C90 air ambulance, operated by Redbird Airways Pvt Ltd, was en route from Ranchi to Delhi when it went down on Monday evening in the Bariatu Panchayat area of Simaria, deep inside a forest. All seven on board, including two pilots, lost their lives. All seven victims taken for post-mortem; investigation underway “We have brought all seven bodies for post-mortem at Sadar Hospital, Chatra. The crash is being investigated,” an official told PTI. The aircraft took off from Ranchi Airport at 7:11 pm and went missing around 7:30 pm. It lost contact with air traffic control about 20 minutes after departure, he said. A Himachal Roadways bus met with an accident on Tuesday in the remote area of Kwanu-Meenus Road in Kalsi in Uttarakhand`s Dehradun district and fell into a deep gorge, the State Disaster Response Force said. Preliminary reports suggested that more than 30 passengers were on board the bus. Following the information and on the orders of SDRF Commandant Arpan Yaduvanshi, SDRF teams from posts at Dakpathar, Chakrata, Mori, and Tyuni were immediately dispatched to the accident site. Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami spoke to the District Magistrate and issued necessary instructions to rescue the passengers. Lucknow: An IndiGo flight en route from Delhi to Bagdogra, West Bengal, made an emergency landing at Lucknow airport on Sunday morning following a bomb threat in a handwritten note on a tissue paper. Lucknow’s Assistant Commissioner of Police (ACP) Rajneesh Verma said the threat originated from a handwritten note found inside the aircraft’s toilet.
