Treesa-Gayatri advances to US Open pre-quarterfinals

India’s Treesa Jolly and Gayatri Gopichand progressed to the pre-quarterfinals of the US Open 2026 badminton tournament after overcoming Spain’s Paula López and Lucía Rodríguez in a hard-fought women’s doubles opening-round clash on Tuesday. Competing at the Titan Gym in California, the Indian pair registered a 21-12, 14-21, 21-13 victory to advance to the second round of the BWF Super 300 event. Treesa and Gayatri made a strong start by comfortably taking the opening game. However, the Spanish duo fought back to level the contest by claiming the second game. The Indians regained control in the decider, producing a dominant display to close out the match and secure their place in the last 16. The tournament marks another step in the pair’s return to the international circuit after Treesa recently recovered from an injury that sidelined her for nearly three months. The duo resumed competition at the Indonesia Open earlier this month and are India’s lone representatives in the women’s doubles draw at the US Open. In men’s singles, Rounak Chouhan advanced to the main …

Resolute Ghana rip open England’s limitations

Resolute Ghana rip open England’s limitations

An anguished English fan in a Brighton and Hove Albion shirt threw his poncho away in the pilfering rain and screamed: “Make them stand in the rain the whole night.” Seconds were tumbling away, the game was meandering, and the English fans pampered after the 4-2 thrashing of Croatia were disillusioned by the product they saw in Boston on a shivering evening that ended goalless. It was to be another loud memo of their tournament lifting credentials, a shellacking of their tournaments, when their historic rivals like France and Argentina have hit the straps. But it turned out to be another day of toothless attacking display, reminiscent of the end days under Gareth Southgate, a day etched in the past of glorious underachieving. England might yet go deep in the tournament, but the performance against Ghana was not a loud advertisement of their attacking riches but a prognosis of their limitations. There were passages in the game when even the most invested fans turned their heads away, their eyes wandered, their conversation drifted to the …

The Supreme Court on Monday refused to entertain a petition filed by a Himachal Pradesh family court judge seeking reconsideration of his elevation by the high court collegium observing that doing so will open a Pandora’s Box. The Supreme Court of India. (File) Allowing the officer to withdraw and pursue his remedies before the HImachal Pradesh high court, a bench of justices BV Nagarathna and Joymalya Bagchi said, “Once collegium recommendation is made and there are discussions on it, how can we interfere on the judicial side? This will open a Pandora’s Box.” The judge, Arvind Malhotra, agreed to withdraw his plea to avail the remedy of approaching the high court. Senior advocate Balbir Singh appearing for him submitted that the high court collegium on September 23, 2025 recommended three names of judicial officers junior to him. Malhotra feared that the choice may have been influenced by an allegation against him that he claims has no grounds. Did Iran just open its nuclear program? Trump envoy reveals Tehran’s secret letter to UN’s nuke body

Published on Jun 19, 2026 09:30 pm IST A major new development has emerged just days after the landmark U.S.-Iran memorandum was signed. Trump envoy Steve Witkoff revealed that Iran could soon invite the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) to inspect key nuclear facilities across the country, potentially opening the door to one of the most significant verification efforts in years. According to Witkoff, a previously undisclosed letter addressed to IAEA Director-General Rafael Grossi reportedly includes a formal invitation for inspectors to enter Iran and help locate, verify, and monitor Tehran’s stockpile of enriched nuclear material. The inspections could become the first major test of Iran’s compliance with the new agreement. The whereabouts of parts of Iran’s nuclear inventory have remained one of the biggest unanswered questions throughout the conflict. Witkoff also indicated that American nuclear experts could participate in the verification process as both sides enter a critical 60-day negotiation period aimed at reaching a broader and more permanent settlement.   Home / Videos / Did Iran just open its nuclear program?
