DU’s Master of Operational Research programme not in UGC list, likely to get MSc tag, again | Delhi News

For years, graduates of the University of Delhi’s Master of Operational Research (MOR) programme have found themselves caught in a technical bind — holding a degree that, despite its academic rigour and industry relevance, was not in the University Grants Commission’s (UGC) approved degrees list. Now, the univister is mulling renaming the programme, The Indian Express has learnt. The Department of Operational Research, said sources, has formally proposed that the “Existing Nomenclature: Master of Operational Research” be revised to “MSc (Operational Research)” under the Faculty of Mathematical Science, a title already recognised by the UGC. The issue is particularly striking given the legacy of the programme, which was launched in 1963. At the time, the students — following completion of the programme — were given an MSc degree. However, after 2019, the current title was adopted even as it was not in the approved degrees’ list as notified by the UGC vide Gazette Notification of 2014. Air India on Wednesday said that the inspections on Boeing 787 aircraft in its operational fleet have revealed no issues with the fuel control switch on any of the aircraft. The airline said that it has completed precautionary re-inspections of the Fuel Control Switch (FCS) on all Boeing 787 aircraft in its operational fleet, the airline said on Wednesday. The checks were carried out as a safety measure after an issue was reported on a flight from London to Bengaluru earlier this week. The airline said the inspections revealed no issues with the fuel control switch on any of the aircraft. Air India added that the inspections were conducted out of an abundance of caution following an observation reported by one of its pilots. Regulator conducts independent checks Air India also acknowledged the regulator’s independent inspections and confirmed that the fuel control switch has been cleared. Chennai: Several IndiGo flights scheduled to depart from Chennai Airport till 6 pm on Friday were cancelled due to operational reasons, the airport authority announced, adding to the nationwide disruption in the airline’s operations. New Delhi: The four labour codes ushering another wave of reforms in the country are likely to be fully operational from April 1, 2026 as the ministry has begun the process for enforcing rules under the notified law. The four labour codes were notified on November 21.(Representative Image) The four labour codes – Code on Wages, 2019, Industrial Relations Code, 2020, Code on Social Security, 2020 and the Occupational Safety, Health and Working Conditions Code, 2020 – were notified on November 21. For enforcing a law, the government needs to notify rules under that to operationalise the legislation. Before that, the central and state governments are required to pre-publish the draft rules for public feedback.
