Opinion: Blog | Asha Bhosle Is Gone, But Her 'Bad Girl' Anthems Live On

It is extraordinary how Bhosle’s voice has been part of the cultural landscape of changing India, signifying freedom, independence, and risk-taking. Forever brilliant, forever bubbly, forever young, she will be missed. Disclaimer: We do not own any of the content, ideas, images, or text presented here. Not Ramayana, but Akshay Kumar shunning mass action, doing Bhooth Bangla is best news for Bollywood this year | Opinion

Maybe it was Baahubali, or maybe the KGF and Pushpa films. But something did change in Bollywood’s approach to ‘big’ films after the pandemic. As slice-of-life stories and ‘daring’ genres fell flat after the lockdowns, big stars resorted to the only formula they felt was safe – mass action, south style. And suddenly, every actor wanted their own Rocky bhai or Pushpa moment. When even the king of romance (here’s looking at you, Jawan) and National Award winners (remember Manoj Bajpayee in Bhaiyaji) were clamouring for mass action, Akshay Kumar is quietly bucking the trend. He had a decent outing with Housefull 5 last year, and now has three out-and-out comedies up for release, becoming the only major star to return to his roots. And it just may be the best thing for Bollywood this year. Akshay Kumar is returning to his vintage comedy style with Priyadarshan’s Bhooth Bangla. Akshay Kumar bucks the mass action trend The first era of south-style mass action in Hindi cinema began in 2009-10 with the success of Wanted and …

4 US Military Options, Risks, Public Opinion

Over four weeks after the United States and Israel attacked Iran in a bid to degrade its nuclear program and set in motion a regime change, there is still little certainty around its endgame. At various points, US President Donald Trump has claimed that victory was imminent and that the US had largely met its objectives, even as Iran has pushed back at statements about the two countries engaging in negotiations. An Axios report said earlier this week that the White House and the Pentagon are now “considering sending at least 10,000 additional combat troops to the Middle East in the coming days, according to a senior U.S. defense official.” The Wall Street Journal first reported the story, citing Department of Defense officials. More reinforcements, “including several fighter jet squadrons and thousands of troops, are expected to arrive in the Middle East in the coming days and weeks,” Axios said. While there is no confirmation of putting boots on the ground, Iranian Parliament Speaker Mohammad Bagher Ghalibaf has said that Iranian forces are “waiting for …

Opinion | A seat taken, a life denied: Why India needs a faith registry now

When the Supreme Court recently ruled that any person actively professing a religion outside Hinduism, Sikhism, or Buddhism cannot simultaneously claim Scheduled Caste benefits, it did something important: it shifted the focus back to the people reservation was always meant for. But behind the legal clarity lies a quieter, more painful story—that of a Dalit student who lost a college seat, a landless labourer denied a government job, and a survivor of caste violence who couldn’t access protection under the SC/ST Atrocities Act. Not because they were found ineligible, but because someone else was occupying their space through a certificate that no longer reflected reality. This opinion piece is based on the Supreme Court’s March 24 ruling on Scheduled Castes status. (ANI) The numbers make the scale difficult to ignore. Maharashtra’s caste scrutiny committees cancelled over 14,000 fraudulent caste certificates between 2008 and 2017. In Andhra Pradesh, an RTI probe revealed that 70–80% of Christian pastors receiving COVID relief funds held Hindu SC or OBC certificates, despite having undergone baptism. These are not just administrative …

Imran Khan reacts to netizen calling him `berozgaar`: `Your opinion man`

An extremely successful debut, Jaane Tu Ya Jaane Na (2008), made Imran Khan, in today’s parlance, a ‘national crush’. However, he stepped away from showbiz after Katti Batti in 2015. He has been vocal about his personal struggles, the flipside of fame, and his battle with depression. He recently engaged in an interactive session on Reddit, where a netizen called him ‘berozgaar’. Look at what the actor had to say. Imran Khan reacts to netizen calling him jobless A Redditor asked Imran Khan, “Kya bhai, kya chal raha? Sab thik thak? Koi berozgaar wala tana to nahi marta naa? Or marta bhi hai to deflect kaise karte?” Imran Khan replied, “Sab theek bhai! Aise logon se kya kaha jaa sakta hai?” He also added a GIF that read, “Yeah, well, that’s just, like, your opinion, man.” A fan asked, “How do you earn money other than from movies?” The actor replied, “I invest wisely and live simply.” He was also asked, “You kind of disappeared at your peak. What made you step away from films, …

‘I don’t like the Impact Player rule’, says DC captain Axar Patel; head coach Hemang Badani gives contrasting opinion

3 min readMar 23, 2026 04:52 PM IST With the presence of all-rounders progressively diminishing in the Indian Premier League (IPL) over the last three seasons, Delhi Capitals captain Axar Patel has openly expressed his displeasure over the Impact Player substitute in the 10-team league. Speaking ahead of the second season as the Capitals skipper on Monday, Patel said that the rule instinctively reduced the role of an all-rounder in the playing XI. “I don’t like this rule, honestly, because I am an all-rounder (laughs),” Axar said in a media interaction when asked about the rule introduced in 2023. “Earlier, you would pick an allrounder for batting and bowling. Because of this rule, the team management goes for a particular batsman or bowler, thinking ‘Why do we need an allrounder?’ “Since I am an allrounder, I don’t like the rule. At the same time, rules are rules and we need to follow them. From a personal point of view though, I don’t like the rule,” remarked Axar. The Impact Player sub has been regarded as …

Hey Aditya Dhar, Badla Prep Wasn’t Well, The Eendhan Failed & My Hausla Surrendered To The Chaos On The 1st Show! [Opinion]

Dhurandhar 2 Paid Previews Opened To Chaos & Confusions! (Photo Credit –Facebook) Okay, so it has been more than a day, and finally, now, I am over the Dhurandhar 2 fever. I mean, the excitement is far from over! However, to be specific, my excitement died with the paid preview itself because it was such a hassle to watch the film! When the trailer for the film dropped, the nation was chanting one thing: Revenge. As a cinema buff, I was very excited to watch Ranveer Singh unleash his fury as the king of Lyari! Aditya Dhar promised us a cinematic explosion, and he delivered. But the only thing that killed the buzz was the paid previews! While the advance booking numbers soared high, I am not sure why and how the prep was underwhelming. Here is my personal journal of what exactly happened when I reached the venue for my paid preview on March 18. So, I booked a show, for 5 PM on March 7 itself! In fact, my whole team did the …
