JOTHI RAMALINGAM Computer science and engineering (CSE) seems to be the subject of choice for a large majority of rank holders coming under the horizontal reservation category (7.5% for students who passed from government schools) in the Tamil Nadu Nadu Engineering Admissions (TNEA) 2026. Interestingly, PSG College of Technology, Coimbatore, has emerged the preferred destination for at least half of the toppers, replacing the College of Engineering, Guindy, which has been their first choice in the past. The reason for the shift, according to candidates, ranged from feedback from seniors to presence of close relatives in the textile city. K. Pugalesh from Tiruchi, who bagged the second rank, said he wanted to pursue CSE at PSG College since his sister works at an information technology firm in Coimbatore. New Delhi, The Union Public Service Commission on Thursday said over 23,000 civil services aspirants have opted for three newly introduced examination centres as part of efforts to decongest venues for examination. The civil services exam is conducted annually in three stages preliminary, mains, and interview for recruitment to services including Indian Administrative Service , Indian Foreign Service , and Indian Police Service . This year’s civil services preliminary examination is scheduled to be held on Sunday. The Commission said it has received a total of 8,19,372 applications for the preliminary examination. OPT allows foreign nationals who enter the United States on a student visa to work in the U.S. for 12, or in some cases 24 months. It also allows students to transition to an H-1B visa sponsored by employers.
