A 60-year-old homeless man died after he was attacked by stray dogs in Southwest Delhi’s Dwarka, police said on Friday. The attack happened near St Mary’s school in Dwarka’s Sector 19 on Tuesday night, when the deceased identified as Raju encountered a pack of stray dogs howling at him, officers said. “Raju ran towards a nearby park to save himself, but the dogs followed and attacked him. He was severely injured in the attack. His clothes were almost entirely torn off when police reached the spot,” a police officer said. He succumbed to his injuries on the intervening night of Wednesday (January 7) and Thursday( January 8) while undergoing treatment, they added. Raju is a native of Uttar Pradesh’s Sitapur, they added. According to the police, Raju had been living on roads and footpaths for over a year after leaving home following frequent domestic disputes. He is survived by his wife and three children. “His wife works as a domestic help at a society in Sector 11 to support the family,” a police officer said. …
