Veteran actress Hema Malini received the Padma Vibhushan on behalf of her husband Dharmendra from President Droupadi Murmu at Rashtrapati Bhavan on Monday. The honour was conferred posthumously on the late actor, who passed away in November last year. As the actress received the honour, she was seen fighting back tears, while her younger daughter Ahana Deol broke down. One of the highest civilian Awards of the country, Padma Awards 2026, were conferred in three categories, namely, Padma Vibhushan, Padma Bhushan and Padma Shri on Monday, May 25. President Droupadi Murmu conferred the prestigious civilian honours upon the recipients at the Rashtrapati Bhavan in the presence of the Prime Minister, Home Minister and other dignitaries.
