Dasun Shanaka draws Pakistan Cricket Board ire for joining IPL after quitting PSL

3 min readApr 20, 2026 08:15 PM IST Sri Lanka’s Dasun Shanaka has become the latest to draw the Pakistan Cricket Board’s (PCB) ire for joining an Indian Premier League (IPL) franchise after being initially contracted to play in the Pakistan Super League (PSL). The PCB announced on Monday that it has banned Shanaka from playing in the PSL next season. Shanaka was initially set to turn up for the Lahore Qalandars. He withdrew from the tournament on March 21 this year and was then signed by Rajasthan Royals a day later as a replacement for injured England all-rounder Sam Curran. Shanaka is yet to play a match this season. “The review concluded that the player’s unilateral withdrawal from the tournament on March 21, 2026, constituted a clear breach of both the Player Registration terms and the Tripartite Agreement. The findings indicated that the withdrawal was made on grounds not recognized within the existing contractual framework,” said the PCB in its statement. Shanaka issued an apology which was included in the board’s statement on Monday. …

Pakistan national team selector Misbah-ul-Haq forced to defend himself for working with PSL franchise | Cricket News

2 min readApr 11, 2026 12:11 AM IST The Pakistan Cricket Board’s policy of allowing its employees to work with franchises in the Pakistan Super League has come under scrutiny after former captain Misbah ul Haq confirmed he was involved with Peshawar Zalmi as consultant. The PCB at the start of the PSL had stopped Sarfaraz Ahmed and Wahab Riaz from working with the Quetta Gladiators franchise. The board said under its policy former players who were on the PCB payroll were not allowed to work in the PSL in any capacity as it was a conflict of interest. But Misbah defended his involvement with Peshawar Zalmi despite being a paid national selector and batting consultant with the PCB. “I had signed a contract with Zalmi before I became national selector and I only work for them as consultant on given days in a season,” Misbah told the media wearing the Peshawar Zalmi kit. Asked how he got permission from the PCB to work in the PSL when Sarfaraz who was with him on the …

‘PCB saved Naseem Shah’s career, how many Indian players tweet on Rahul Gandhi?’

2 min readApr 1, 2026 11:43 AM IST Former Pakistan wicketkeeper Kamran Akmal has urged Naseem Shah to put the social media controversy behind him and warned that his pace has dropped alarmingly, saying the Pakistan Cricket Board had done the young fast bowler a significant favour by stopping short of a ban. Naseem was fined 20 million Pakistani rupees — roughly eight months’ salary — by the PCB after reportedly posting sarcastic tweets directed at Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz, who was the chief guest at the PSL opening match at Gaddafi Stadium. The PCB found him guilty of multiple breaches of his central contract despite an unconditional apology. “The members of this committee and the chairman have saved his career,” Akmal said on the YouTube show Gameplan. “If he was banned, his career would have been ruined.” But Akmal reserved his sharper concern for Naseem’s cricket. “Where has the pace gone? He started at 145, 150 — now it’s 135, 137. What was the diet plan? What did you do?” Akmal’s advice to …

Naseem Shah fined eight months salary by Pakistan Cricket Board for sarcastic tweets | Cricket News

3 min readMar 30, 2026 09:43 PM IST The Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) imposed a heavy fine of 20 million Pakistani rupees (approx 72000 USD or 67 lakhs INR) on pacer Naseem Shah for posting sarcastic tweets in reply to a PCB social media post of Punjab’s chief minister Maryam Nawaz. PCB deemed the tweet, which was quickly deleted, as breach of the clauses of his central contract. The PCB announced that the disciplinary committee of the Board had found Naseem guilty of breaching clauses of his contract and behaving irresponsibly while posting tweets on his social media account. Naseem was issued a show-cause notice on March 27 after Naseem Shah’s official X account quote-tweeted the post of Punjab CM Maryam Nawaz at Gaddafi Stadium from the PCB media account, saying “Why is she treated like the Queen at Lord’s?” Minutes later, Naseem’s post was taken down and replaced with another post saying his account had been hacked, and that it had been recovered by him. Maryam visited the Gaddafi Stadium as the chief guest …

Gary Kirsten says he was not shocked to hear Pakistan cricketers were fined for under-performance at T20 World Cup | Cricket News

3 min readMar 21, 2026 11:44 PM IST After he took over the Sri Lankan cricket team, Gary Kirsten has opened up about his short stint at the helm of Pakistan cricket team. He pointed out that there was a lot of “interference” in his five-months-long role with the Pakistan Cricket Board, although he did not reveal by whom. He also said that reports that Pakistan cricketers were fined by the PCB for their failure to make it to the semis of the T20 World Cup was not surprising. “I’m not particularly shocked (by reports of Pakistan players being fined). For me, it’s just sad. I mean, those players are giving their all and I’ve got to know them well. You know, all of them. So I’ve got an emotional attachment to a lot of those guys. I saw them in Colombo and it was great connecting with them again. And they’re good guys. They want to do well for their country. So it’s never nice when you see that,” Kirsten said in an interview …

Ahmed Shehzad’s explosive rant on Pakistan players’ big bellies

4 min readMar 19, 2026 03:02 PM IST Former Pakistan cricketer Ahmed Shehzad has slammed the Pakistan cricket team for their poor fitness levels, while also calling out the repeated nature of comparing their cricket standards with India. “Fitness level humare players ne wo bana liya hai ki piche sunne me aata tha ki coaches ko apne side pe karke yeh kehte the ki hume bas khelne de, hume khane de, itne paisa hum agar kama rahe hai, khayenge nahi toh faayeda kya hai?” said Shehzad on his YouTube channel. (Our players have set their fitness levels such that… back in the day, we used to hear that they would get the coaches on their side and say, “Just let us play. Let us eat. If we are earning this much money, what’s the point if we don’t eat?”) “Itni gaaliyan khaate hai, itni tanqeed sunte hai, aur khoti bhi na khaye? Toh roti toh khane de hume. Toh woh roti ke chakkaron mein jo tounde, woh bahar aane lag gaye, aur duniya ke andar …

‘Weakest PCB I have ever seen’

3 min readMar 19, 2026 11:15 AM IST Former Pakistan cricketer Ahmed Shehzad ripped into the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB), calling them the weakest and a spineless board, while blaming them for blindly supporting a select few players, which led to the downfall of the Pakistan cricket team. “The calibre of your players is not at that level, which was built up as a brand by the Pakistan Cricket Board for the Pakistan Super League (PSL) 5 and 7 years ago. These 6-8 boys… they are also the face of the PSL. They are also the face of our Pakistan team. Will they change Pakistan’s destiny?” said Shehzad on his YouTube channel. “You provided all the sponsorships to those boys, endorsed them, and invested money in them. You gave them captaincies in the PSL, right? You made them the thumb of the Pakistan team. You handed over the entire Pakistan cricket team to those 6 boys and their agents. And what have they done now? The fire they have lit in the jungle, the fun …

Shahid Afridi blasts selectors over Shaheen captaincy call after Bangladesh defeat: Real surgery should be on committee

Former Pakistan captain Shahid Afridi on Monday launched a scathing attack on the country’s selection committee, holding them directly responsible for the humiliating 2–1 ODI series defeat to Bangladesh on Sunday in Dhaka. Afridi not only questioned the Pakistan Cricket Board‘s decision to hand the ODI captaincy to his son-in-law Shaheen Afridi but also said he found little logic in the removal of Babar Azam from the squad following his underwhelming show in the T20 World Cup. Pakistan lost 1-2 against Bangladesh in ODIs Pakistan’s struggles in international cricket continued as the team, after failing to reach the semifinals of the T20 World Cup earlier this month, went on to lose the ODI series against Bangladesh. ‘Salman Ali Agha is not cut out for this role’: Shoaib Akhtar predicts Pakistan captain’s exit after England defeat | Cricket News

3 min readFeb 25, 2026 05:40 PM IST Former Pakistan pacer Shoaib Akhtar believes that current team captain Salman Ali agha’s days at the helm of the team are numbered after their latest defeat to England by two wickets left the side on the verge of crashing out from the ongoing T20 World Cup. Akhtar was withering in his criticism of Salman Ali Agha, who he said was not “cut out” to be a captain. “The question I need to ask in three weeks’ time is whether Agha will remain team captain. If you (Pakistan Cricket Board and think tank) had any long-term vision, you wouldn’t have to make this decision three weeks from now. I don’t think he is cut out for this job as a captain. And if you are expecting a miracle from him, or comparing him to someone like Harry Brook—I am so sorry,” Akhtar said on the Game On Hai show. “Looking at him tactically, he is not captaincy material. He was forced into the role as a ‘make-shift’ arrangement, …
