The Asian Champions Trophy 2024 came to an end on Tuesday with India winning a record-extending fifth title beating hosts China 1-0 in the final in Hulunbuir. A new-look Indian team stayed unbeaten throughout the tournament to take home the trophy. China, playing their first Asian Champions Trophy final, put up a great show but Jugraj Singh’s lone goal in the fourth quarter sealed the deal for India in the title clash. Pakistan, on the other hand, beat Korea in the third-place playoff.  During the final, a visual from the official broadcasters showed Pakistan players holding the Chinese flag. Pakistan Finish Third In Asian Champions Trophy After Comeback Win vs Korea

Pakistan ended their campaign at the Hero Asian Champions Trophy with a 5-2 win against Korea, scoring them the bonze Medal here at the Moqi Hockey Training Base in the China Daur Ethnic Park on Tuesday. Goals by Sufyan Khan (38′, 49′), Hannan Shahid (39′, 54′) and Rooman (45′) who scored in Pakistan’s victory while Jungjun Lee (16′), Jihun Yang (40′) scored for Korea. After a poor start, Pakistan, who were handed a disappointing loss in the semifinal by hosts China, made great amends to their game to bounce back in the second half of the match to clinch a thriller. In a mega upset, China stunned Pakistan 2-0 (1-1) in the shootout to enter the final of the Asian Champions Trophy at the Moqi Hockey Training Base in Hulunbuir, China. Oltmans, who has been working with the senior team from earlier this year, was scheduled to join the team directly in Hulunbuir but pulled out at the last moment. “Oltmans has notified the Pakistan Hockey Federation (PHF) that he is not available for coaching as he wants a long-term proper contract with the PHF,” an official source in the PHF said. The six-team ACT tournament is scheduled to be held between September 8 and 17. The PHF source said Oltmans, who had also worked as Indian hockey team’s High Performance Director and head coach between 2013 and 2017, was offered an “event-to-event” contract. “The PHF has been hiring him on assignment basis due to fund issues and he was supposed to coach the team during the event in …

Pakistan’s Dutch Hockey Coach Flies Home After Not Being Paid Eight Months’ Salary: Report

A source in the Pakistan Hockey Federation (PHF) said Aikman was not just unhappy with his salary not being credited but also with “undue interference” from the other Pakistani coaches attached with the national camp. “Aikman returned home after he waited patiently to get his salary from the PHF via the Pakistan Sports Board (PSB). But after not getting his salary for eight months, he decided enough was enough and has now gone home,” the source said. A PHF official, however, said the coach had gone home since there was no immediate international assignment lined up for the national team. He said that all dues of the coach would be cleared by the end of the month as his salary is being paid by the PSB.
