Pakistan Refuse To Travel To India For Women’s World Cup, PCB Chief Delivers Sharp Message

Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) Chairman Mohsin Naqvi on Saturday announced that their women’s team will not travel to India for the ICC ODI World Cup later this year and play their matches at a neutral venue, following the hybrid model accepted earlier this year. When Pakistan hosted ICC Champions Trophy recently, BCCI had refused to send Indian team across the border due to diplomatic tension between the two nations and their matches were held in Dubai. A hybrid model was agreed upon that allowed both India and Pakistan to play their matches at neutral venues if one of the two countries was to host an ICC event. “Just like India didn’t play in Pakistan in the Champions Trophy and were allowed to play at a neutral venue, whatever venue is decided, we will play. When there is an agreement it has to be adhered to,” he said. The PCB chief said India and ICC being the hosts of the tournament would decide on the neutral venue. India will host the tournament from September …

Pakistan’s Women Cricket World Cup Qualification An Issue For India And BCCI. Here’s Why

Pakistan’s Women Cricket World Cup Qualification An Issue For India And BCCI. Here’s Why

Pakistan on Thursday booked their place in the ICC Women’s World Cup 2025. The team managed to seal a spot for itself following a comprehensive 67-run victory over Thailand at the Gaddafi Stadium in Lahore. Pakistan have now won all four of their matches in the qualifying tournament, entering the final round with a perfect record. They became the the first team to qualify from the six-nation qualifier that also featured Bangladesh, West Indies, Ireland, Scotland and Thailand. Notably, the top-two finishing teams from the event are set to earn tickets for the Cricket World Cup that takes place in India in September-November. Pakistan’s qualification, however, has increased the logistical challenges for the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) and the nation as well. As Women’s World Cup is set to be hosted by India this year, Pakistan’s participation means that the BCCI will have to host Pakistan’s matches outside, at a “neutral venue”. Not only for the Indian board, but it is also a challenge for Indian fans as the …

Ex Pakistan Captain Stunned As Team Drops 8 Catches vs NZ, Eliminate Team India

As the Pakistan women’s cricket team took on New Zealand in their final group stage match of the T20 World Cup 2024, it wasn’t just their own country that was cheering for them. On one of the rarest occasions, the Pakistan team also received support from across the border as the Indian team’s chances of semi-final qualification also relied upon their neighbours. However, Pakistan went on to produce one of the worst performances in the history of the tournament, losing the match by 54 runs, thanks to as many as eight dropped catches. Pakistan restricted New Zealand to 110/6 in 20 overs but not before a whopping eight catching chances were put down and even a couple of run-out possibilities. Pakistan’s Fatima Sana herself dropped as many as 4 catches, most of them regulation as the Kiwis continued to ride their luck. While chasing the target of 111 runs, Pakistan barely managed to get hold over their opponents’ bowling, with some poor shot selection and rouge style of play resulting in them being …

Pakistan were very much in the game after restricting New Zealand to a meagre 110 for six in 20 overs. However, Pakistan’s batting crumbled badly as they were shot out for 56 in just 11.4 overs as White Ferns entered the semifinals with three wins from four games in Group A. Australia topped the group with eight points while New Zealand came second with six points. The loss to New Zealand in their tournament opener effectively cost India a place in the last four. Spinner Amelia Kerr took three wickets but it was seamers Lea Tahuhu (1/8) and Eden Carson (2/7) …

Women’s T20 World Cup Semi-Finals Scenario: What Does New Zealand’s Win Over Sri Lanka Mean For India’s Chances

New Zealand hammered Sri Lanka by eight wickets on Saturday, drawing the race for Women’s T20 World Cup semi-final spots wide open. It was a one-sided affair as New Zealand restricted Sri Lanka to 115-5 before chasing the target with eight wickets and 15 balls to spare. On the other hand, it was a fourth straight defeat in the tournament for the Asia Cup champions Sri Lanka, who bowed out of the tournament with zero points in Group A. The White Ferns are in a two-horse race with India for the second semi-final spot from Group A. Both teams have four points each, with a game in hand. Although New Zealand trail India on the basis of net run-rate, the Harmanpreet Kaur-led side face table-toppers Australia in their final group game. Having already lost to New Zealand, India cannot afford another loss against Australia. They would have to beat Australia and hope that Pakistan either beat New Zealand or make things tough for them. In case of a defeat for India, the net …
