This new mode of transport will offer residents and visitors a fast, safe and convenient way to travel between key destinations across the city. The aerial taxi service is expected to cut travel time between Dubai International Airport and Palm Jumeirah – a distance of about 36 km – to just 10 minutes. At present, the same journey takes roughly 45 minutes by car. A court in Kerala has permitted the NIA to conduct a further probe into a Popular Front of India (PFI) activist who allegedly sheltered the prime accused in the 2010 case involving the chopping of Professor T J Joseph’s palm. Professor Joseph of Newman College, Thodupuzha, was attacked by a group who chopped off his right palm, accusing him of religious blasphemy in a question paper he prepared on July 2010. The case, later taken over by the National Investigation Agency, resulted in the conviction of 19 accused persons. The first accused, Savad, who allegedly chopped Joseph’s palm, was arrested from Berram, Mattannur in Kannur in January 2024, where he had been hiding under the pseudonym Shajahan. The NIA also arrested Shafeer C, who allegedly arranged shelter and provided other logistical support to Savad at Chakkad and Mattannur in Kannur since 2020. In …

District Collector Sumit Kumar highlighted the potential of oil palm cultivation in the eastern mandals to provide economic viability to farmers. He directed the officials of the Horticulture and Agriculture departments to create awareness programmes among the farmers of the region through Rythu Sadhikara Kendrams (RSKs). The Collector was addressing a review meeting with the officials of the various departments at the Collectorate, here on Wednesday. New Delhi: The Delhi Police on Sunday denied permission for a Palm Sunday procession between the St Mary’s Church in Old Delhi and the Sacred Heart Cathedral near Gole Market, leading to sharp reaction from Catholic groups as well as political parties, who termed the decision “unfair” and “shocking”.
