The Maharashtra government has approved the allotment of 3 hectares and 12 gunthas of government land to the Shri Vitthal Rukmini Temple Committee in Pandharpur to develop facilities for devotees and establish a cow conservation centre. The land, located in Survey No 161 near Yamai Lake in Pandharpur, has been sanctioned following a decision taken by Revenue Minister Chandrashekhar Bawankule on the suggestion of Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis. Akola , Police have traced a missing 14-year-old boy from Akola to Pandharpur in Maharashtra, after a 21-day search during which they examined the footage of nearly 200 CCTVs and travelled 1,500 km, officials said. His parents approached the police the next day, following which a case was registered and an investigation was launched. The parents, however, could not provide sufficient information to help find the boy, District Superintendent of Police Archit Chandak told reporters on Wednesday. The local crime branch team then collected information about the boy from his school, tuition classes and neighbours. The team also questioned the boy’s parents, who told the police that they had scolded him before he left the home, the official said. Central Railway launches silk cocoon transport from Pandharpur, Kalaburagi

The Solapur Division of Central Railway (CR) on Friday inaugurated direct transportation of silk cocoons from the sericulture hubs of Pandharpur and Kalaburagi to Ramanagaram, Karnataka, Asia’s largest silk cocoon market. The service commenced on November 27, providing farmers with a faster, more economical route to sell their produce. Previously, while Solapur Division trains like 16536 Pandharpur–Mysuru Gol Gumbaz Express and 17308 Bagalkot-Mysuru Basava Express passed through Ramanagaram, silk cocoons could not be booked due to the trains’ short halts of less than five minutes. To address this, Central Railway and South Western Railway (SWR) collaborated to facilitate direct booking, with CR handling loading and SWR managing unloading. On the inaugural day, a farmers’ group from Pandharpur booked 38 bags weighing 1,500 kg, benefiting from rail transport costing less than Rs 5 per kg, which is over 30 per cent cheaper than road transport.  The move provides farmers with direct market access, reduces logistics costs, and opens a new revenue stream for the Railways.
