Former Maharashtra MLC Rajendra Jain on Monday filed his nomination papers as the Nationalist Congress Party (NCP) candidate for the Rajya Sabha by-election to be held on June 18, reported PTI. Several senior leaders accompanied Jain during the nomination process, including Rajya Sabha MPs Praful Patel and Parth Pawar, Maharashtra NCP president and Lok Sabha MP Sunil Tatkare, and state minister Chhagan Bhujbal. Maharashtra government on Thursday (November 6, 2025) ordered a high level inquiry, suspended two persons and registered a police complaint related to an alleged ₹300 crore land deal controversy allegedly involving Parth Pawar, Maharashtra Deputy Chief Minister Ajit Pawar’s son. Opposition parties have sought a judicial probe.
