The villagers were warned of a First Information Report (FIR) if they step inside fields. We have been sowing the land for more than 80 years. ‘Onus Is On IndiGo’: Govt Sources On Iltija Mufti’s Claim Of Muslim Staff Being Abused | India News

Last Updated:December 22, 2025, 23:46 IST According to government sources, IndiGo would need to formally complain about the passenger for further action to be taken. Iltija Mufti | File Image Government sources on Monday told CNN-News18 that the responsibility for initiating action in the case highlighted by Iltija Mufti, involving the alleged verbal abuse of a Muslim IndiGo ground staff member by a passenger, rests primarily with the airline, not the aviation ministry or the regulator. According to government sources, IndiGo would need to formally complain about the passenger for further action to be taken. Under existing aviation rules, an unruly passenger can be placed on a no-fly list once the airline completes due process. After that, the airline may share the details with other carriers, enabling wider enforcement of the restriction. Sources clarified that the Ministry of Civil Aviation and the Directorate General of Civil Aviation (DGCA) have a limited role in such cases unless the airline initiates formal proceedings. “The onus is on IndiGo to take the next steps as per established procedures,” …

Youth share tales of harassment at PDP meet on why Kashmiri professionals are turning to violence

Tales of “hounding and harassment” were shared at a youth conference in Srinagar on Sunday (December 7, 2025) that sought to understand why local professionally qualified Kashmiris, including doctors with white-collar jobs, were turning to violence, an issue that came to the fore after the Red Fort blast in New Delhi. Organised by the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), the conference was attended by the relatives of active militants, youth facing militancy charges and students who get ‘hounded’ outside J&K after militant attacks in Kashmir. “I was arrested just two hours before my exams for a law degree. Most of the rights I had read in the books were violated. I was picked up without a search warrant or an arrest warrant. My right to dignity was compromised when I was asked to remove my clothes. I realised that it’s might is right,” said Raqif Makhdoomi, an undertrial, who was arrested in 2021 on terror-related charges that are denied by him.  Speaking in front of a huge audience of youth and top leadership of the PDP, …

Revelations by former Research and Analysis Wing chief A S Dulat in his new book, The Chief Minister and the Spy, have put the National Conference in a spot, particularly over his claim that party chief Farooq Abdullah was “willing to work with Delhi” on the abrogation of Article 370. A day after leading a protest by students outside J&K Chief Minister Omar Abdullah’s residence, National Conference MP Aga Ruhullah Mehdi has earned flak from both his party colleagues as well as ally Congress. While NC youth president Salman Sagar lashed out at Mehdi, saying “no one is bigger than the party”, Congress legislature party leader G A Mir said the NC MP’s presence at the protest should not have been “just for the cameras”. Apart from Mehdi, the opposition PDP’s Waheed ur Rehman Para and Iltija Mufti also attended Monday’s protest as general category students demanded the Abdullah government slash reservation in UT’s jobs and education to 25% from the current nearly 60%. The party mentioned that its late patron, Mufti Mohammad Sayeed, understood that for the greater good of Jammu and Kashmir, unconventional approaches must be explored. It also urged the BJP to adopt a more conciliatory approach, similar to that of former prime minister Atal Bihari Vajpayee. “So, even with BJP’s limited local influence, strategic engagement is necessary to leverage what rightfully belongs to J&K. Recent arbitrary dismissals of two employees, even with a popular government in place, raise questions. For now, all eyes are on the new government,” the party said. The PDP said in Jammu and Kashmir, winning an election might be the simplest part …
