Wasim Khan wins maiden title at PGTI NEXGEN’s Phillaur Open

Wasim Khan of Delhi shot a final round score of four-under 67 to move his total to 10-under 203 for the week and thus win his maiden title at the PGTI NEXGEN’s Phillaur Open presented by R S Gill played at the Ranjitgarh Golf Club in Phillaur, Punjab. Lucknow’s Rajesh Kumar Gautam (68) and Chandimandir’s Chandarjeet Yadav (69) finished joint runners-up at a total of eight-under 205. Kurush Heerjee (71) of Jamshedpur, the overnight leader, ended the week in tied fourth place at a total of seven-under 206 along with Chandigarh’s Brashwarpal Singh (69). Thirty-four-year-old Wasim Khan (67-69-67), who was overnight tied third and one off the lead, outperformed the rest of the field on the final day as he mixed seven birdies with a bogey and a double-bogey during his round of 67. Kurush Heerjee & Manjot Singh in joint lead after Round 2 of PGTI NEXGEN Phillaur

Jamshedpur’s Kurush Heerjee and Chandigarh golfer Manjot Singh held the joint lead at a total of seven-under 135 after round two of the PGTI NEXGEN’s Phillaur Open presented by R S Gill being played at the Ranjitgarh Golf Club in Phillaur, Punjab. Chandarjeet Yadav (64) of Chandimandir, Amrit Lal (66) of Chandigarh and Delhi’s Wasim Khan (69) were placed tied third at totals of six-under 136. The cut went at three-over 145. The top 37 professionals made the cut for the third and final round. Kurush Heerjee (68-67) mixed six birdies and two bogeys during his opening round. Kurush produced some great wedge shots to land the ball within four feet on three occasions which resulted in two birdies and a par. The 29-year-old Heerjee also executed two of his bunker shots to perfection that led to birdies for him. On the back-nine Kurush was exceptional with his putter as he sank a 50-footer and a 20-footer for birdies. Heerjee thus climbed five spots from his overnight tied sixth position. Rajiv Jatiwal fires seven-under 65 for first-round lead

Chandigarh’s Rajiv Kumar Jatiwal fired a red-hot seven-under 65 to seize the round one lead at the PGTI NEXGEN 2025 season-opener being played at the Golden Greens Golf & Polo Club in Gurugram. The seasoned Rajiv scored an eagle and five birdies on the way to his 65 on Tuesday. Chandarjeet Yadav from Chandimandir, Haryana, was placed second as he shot a four-under 68 on the opening day of the INR 20 lakh event. Rajiv Kumar Jatiwal, who won his only title on his professional debut back in 1998, made all his gains early in his round as he collected five birdies between the first and the 10th and followed that up with an eagle on the 11th. The 48-year-old’s eagle came as a result of a 10-feet conversion. All aspects of his game came together as Rajiv sank two more long birdie putts and landed his wedge shots within four feet on two other occasions for birdies. PGTI NEXGEN event to kickstart on March 11

The 2025 Professional Golf Tour of India (PGTI) NEXGEN season is set to begin on . The three NEXGEN events have a prize purse of INR 20 lakh each. The top-60 players from the 2024 PGTI Order of Merit are not eligible to play on the NEXGEN Tour in 2025. The winner of this year’s NEXGEN Order of Merit will earn an exemption on the main PGTI tour in the 2026 season. The NEXGEN season gets underway with the first event – PGTI NEXGEN Gurugram – which will be played from 11 March, 2025 to 13 March, 2025 at the Golden Greens Golf & Polo Club in Gurugram. The field in the season-opener will feature a total of 90 players. The second event of the season will be PGTI NEXGEN Kapurthala which will be played from 18 March, 2025 to 20 March, 2025 at the RCF Golf Club in Kapurthala. The third event of the season, Phillaur Open presented by R S Gill, will be played from 25 March, 2025 to 27 March, 2025 at …
