The home voting facility for voters aged 85 years and above and those in the persons with disabilities (PwD) category has been extended until Monday, election officials said on Sunday. As of Sunday evening, 96% of voters in the 85-plus category and 97.4% of PwD voters who had opted for the home voting option have exercised their franchise. In Kerala, 1,39,871 of the 1,45,598 voters in the 85-plus category and 60,568 of the 62,159 voters in the PwD category have exercised this option to vote, according to data released by the office of the Chief Electoral Officer (Kerala). Since March 30, the CEO’s office has deployed 2,500 polling teams for the home voting arrangement. Meanwhile, 73.13% of voters in 14 essential services including police, fire and rescue service, media and health services also have cast their votes so far. Of the 29,812 police officers who applied for postal ballots, 22,464 have cast their votes. Jharkhand Assembly Elections 2024: Women voters outnumber men in phase-1 voting

Women voters outnumbered men in phase 1 of the Jharkhand assembly elections 2024 with 37 of 43 seats recording a higher women turnout, the Election Commission said on Friday. The phase 1 of polls held on Wednesday also saw a voter turnout of 66.65 per cent, which was 2.75 per cent higher than the turnout recorded in the 2019 assembly polls in these 43 seats. “Women voters participated enthusiastically, surpassing the overall male turnout by 4.8 per cent, underscoring their increasing involvement in shaping the democratic process,” the Election Commission said. The chief electoral officer of Jharkhand has confirmed that all polling parties have returned safely and scrutiny has been completed in the presence of the candidates or their authorised agents. 61.38% turnout, more male voters in phase-1 of J&K elections: EC

The first phase of the J&K Assembly elections Wednesday recorded a 61.38% turnout in 24 Assembly constituencies, with the number of male voters almost 5 percentage points higher, according to ECI data released on Friday. Of the 24 seats in phase-1, Inderwal constituency recorded the highest turnout at 82.16%, while Tral had the lowest at 43.56%. Padder-Nagseni, Kishtwar, Doda West, Doda and Banihal and Pahalgam recorded over 70% turnout. The EC said the overall male turnout was 63.75%, while women voters recorded a turnout of 58.96%. While male voters outperformed women in most of the seats, six constituencies — Doda, Doda West, Kishtwar, Bhadarwah, Inderwal and Kokernag (ST) — saw a greater turnout of women. The ongoing elections are the first to be held in J&K since the abrogation of Article 370 and the subsequent division of the erstwhile state into two UTs.
