NEET UG: Panshul Bansal grabs AIR 2 and a perfect Physics score, all without giving up video games | Education News

Two hours before one of the most important exams of his life, Panshul Bansal was doing something most toppers wouldn’t openly admit to — playing video games. It wasn’t a one-off. Weeks earlier, he’d been mid-game online with a friend when the news broke that the NEET paper he’d just written stood cancelled, throwing months of preparation into chaos. The National Testing Agency (NTA) released the NEET UG 2026 results on late Thursday night. For lakhs of families across the country, the wait was finally over. Bansal’s name sat at rank two. His score translated to a 99.99 percentile. Close to 20 lakh students had appeared for the exam this year. Only 11.21 lakh of them qualified; of which just 19 candidates crossed the 700 mark out of 720. Bansal was one of them. Like most of this year’s toppers, he’s barely out of his teenage years, the number on his scorecard hides a far more deliberate, almost engineered, journey behind his achievement. Building the base before the race began Bansal says his “serious” preparation …

NEET UG result likely tonight: NTA releases final answer key, drops 1 Physics question, awards 8 bonus marks

NEET UG result likely tonight: NTA releases final answer key, drops 1 Physics question, awards 8 bonus marks

The National Testing Agency (NTA) released the final answer key for the NEET UG 2026 examination late on Thursday, making two key revisions in the Physics section of the paper. The results for the re-examination for NEET-UG 2026 are also likely to be declared tonight, union education ministry officials said. Candidates who had appeared for the National Eligibility cum Entrance Test can now download the final answer key from the official portal. (ANI) Regarding the two errors, one question has been dropped entirely, while another has been revised after it was found to have more than one correct answer, according to the final answer keys of the June 21 question paper. One of the disputed questions involved a Vernier calipers problem that asked candidates to determine the length of a wire based on the instrument’s reading. After reviewing objections, the NTA decided to drop the question from the final answer key. The second revision relates to a question on electromagnetic waves. The agency found that both options 3 and 4 were correct, instead of a …

Class 12 students point out ‘handwriting mismatch’ in Physics, Chemistry answer copy during revaluation, CBSE responds

Class 12 students point out ‘handwriting mismatch’ in Physics, Chemistry answer copy during revaluation, CBSE responds

A Class 12 CBSE student shared her ordeal on social media, stating that the scanned copy of Chemistry answer booklet uploaded by the education board during ongoing revaluation process did not correspond to her handwriting or responses. Alleging that she had been wrongly awarded low marks because of the mismatched sheet against her name, she attached a copy of English answer sheet to support her claim. To resolve glitches in the re-evaluation process, IIT Madras and IIT Kanpur have been roped in. In a post on X, the student named Sanjana wrote, “I applied for CBSE revaluation. The scanned copy of my chemistry sheet I received does not match my handwriting or written responses. For reference, I am attaching my English answer sheet, which clearly reflects my actual handwriting.” Also Read | CBSE student faces trolling after alleging answer sheet mix-up Sanjana was awarded 11 marks out of 70 in Chemistry which were much lower than expected, so she applied for access to scanned copy of answer sheet but to her surprise, it did not …

AI ‘godfather’ Yann LeCun says maths and physics matter more than coding | Technology News

AI ‘godfather’ Yann LeCun says maths and physics matter more than coding | Technology News

Yann Lecun, the 65-year-old NYU professor who is regarded as one of the “godfathers” of AI, has some advice for students who are looking to get in the field of artificial intelligence. “If you are a CS major and take the minimum required math courses for the typical CS curriculum, you might find yourself unable to adapt to major technological shifts,” Lecun told Business Insider. During an almost two-hour-long podcast called The Information Bottleneck on YouTube, Yann Lecun said students should focus on things with a “long shelf life” like mathematics, physics or engineering, signal processing, control theory, and optimisation. “The disciplines with the longest shelf life are usually not computer science. Physics and engineering teach you how to model reality, and that’s what intelligence is really about,” says Lecun. While universities and computer science students are trying to grapple with and adapt to generative and agentic AI, students still seem to be having trouble finding a job. The NYU professor said that he did not initially study computer science but was enrolled in electrical …

The physics behind Hardik Pandya’s curved bat that enables his signature no-look sixes | Cricket News

The physics behind Hardik Pandya’s curved bat that enables his signature no-look sixes | Cricket News

There’s a nonchalance about Hardik Pandya when he hits his trademark no-look sixes; his timing, skill and power make it look easy. Aiding the star in clearing the rope is his bat with a curve in the front – a radical innovation that has been around for a while now but has largely gone unnoticed. The revolutionary ‘bat tweak’ originated in the 1990s when Sachin Tendulkar came up with a query for his bat manufacturer. He had noticed that his bats would develop a nice sweet spot – the wood would get compressed, giving the willow a ‘good dent’ – when used over a period of time. ‘Was it possible to have a readymade sweet spot?’ was Tendulkar’s question. And the answer was ‘yes’ and the bats were no longer flat as a chopping board. They were also convex. With time, the dent got deeper and broader and the process more scientific. Researchers would bank on the laws of physics, carve the bat keeping in mind the principles of the angle of incidence and reflection. …

Bionic Bay review: mixing floppy physics with hard sci-fi

Bionic Bay review: mixing floppy physics with hard sci-fi

Wandering through Bionic Bay’s dark alien world is unsettling and awe-inspiring. There are massive structures with no clear purpose and autonomous factories filled with whirring saw blades and devastating lasers. It’s grim and unforgiving, with little light and harsh shadows that give everything a sinister tone. But then you step on a bomb and your character bounces off of walls like a pinball, and you realize it’s a game of contrasts. Bionic Bay is a curious blend of two very different genres. On the one hand, it’s an atmospheric side-scrolling adventure in the mold of Inside and Limbo, filled with disturbingly stunning environments to explore. At the same time, it’s a hard-as-nails platformer like Super Meat Boy, with elaborate physics that will have you dying repeatedly while trying to find the best route through deadly obstacles. Somehow, the disparate vibes come together surprisingly well. What first drew me to Bionic Bay was that dark world. It’s mysterious to the point that I still don’t actually know what it is you’re doing or why. But that …

Shape-Recovering Liquid Accidentally Created by Student, Challenges the Law of Thermodynamics

Shape-Recovering Liquid Accidentally Created by Student, Challenges the Law of Thermodynamics

An unexpected shape formed when a graduate student accidentally blended oil, water and nickel. Scientists discovered that the shape-recovering liquid defied the laws of thermodynamics. Instead of minimising the interfacial area and turning into a sphere, the mixture of liquid took the shape of a Grecian urn. This research was conducted by a team led by a graduate student, Anthony Raykh, at the University of Massachusetts Amherst; the findings were published on April 4 in the Journal Nature Physics. The Accidental Discovery As per the study, Raykh, a student of polymer science and engineering, was experimenting with a jumble of water, oil and nickel particles in a container. To create an emulsion, he shook the vial. The mixture didn’t get separated as it should have, instead, it formed the shape of a Grecian urn. Even after shaking the mixture multiple times, the liquid kept returning to this shape. Thomas Russell, a professor of polymer science and engineering, told Live Science that this is an odd behaviour of the particles. It is quite strange because such …
