(Image: X) If you are flying into Bengaluru after December 8, your arrival experience at Kempegowda International Airport is set to change. The airport, operated by Bangalore International Airport Ltd (BIAL), is rolling out a revamped pick-up system aimed at easing congestion, improving safety, and making arrivals smoother for passengers and drivers. The move comes as traffic at the airport continues to rise sharply. BLR Airport currently handles around 130,000 passengers every day, while nearly 100,000 vehicles use the airport’s road network daily. This combination has placed heavy pressure on kerbside pick-up lanes outside Terminal 1 and Terminal 2, often resulting in slow movement, unsafe halts, and confusion during peak hours. Why the Pick-Up System Is Being Changed Airport authorities say one of the biggest contributors …

Isuzu starts mass producing its first all-electric pickup truck

Isuzu starts mass producing its first all-electric pickup truck

Isuzu has started mass production of an all-electric version of its mid-sized D-Max pickup truck in Thailand, featuring a dual-motor four-wheel-drive system with 140kW of power that can “match the performance of existing diesel models,” according to the automaker. As reported by Electrek, the new D-Max EV matches the towing capacity of Isuzu’s current diesel powered D-Max at 7,716 pounds (3,500kg) with just slightly less payload capability at about 2,226 pounds (1,010kg) compared to 1,200kg, likely due to the 66.9kWh battery it carries. The D-Max EV has a range of up to 163 miles (263km) per full charge based on Europe’s WLTP standard with a higher 224-mile range if driven in city mode. Other than the electric power, the D-Max EV is built in the image of its diesel counterpart. The D-Max EV is about 207 inches long, which is nearly the same as Europe’s best selling pickup, the Ford Ranger (210 inches). Isuzu’s new truck will compete against the Ranger when it arrives in left-hand drive European countries in the third quarter of this …

The ,000 American-made electric pickup with no paint, no stereo, and no touchscreen

The $20,000 American-made electric pickup with no paint, no stereo, and no touchscreen

Ask just about anybody, and they’ll tell you that new cars are too expensive. In the wake of tariffs shaking the auto industry and with the Trump administration pledging to kill the federal EV incentive, that situation isn’t looking to get better soon, especially for anyone wanting something battery-powered. Changing that overly spendy status quo is going to take something radical, and it’s hard to get more radical than what Slate Auto has planned. Meet the Slate Truck, a sub-$20,000 (after federal incentives) electric vehicle that enters production next year. It only seats two yet has a bed big enough to hold a sheet of plywood. It only does 150 miles on a charge, only comes in gray, and the only way to listen to music while driving is if you bring along your phone and a Bluetooth speaker. It is the bare minimum of what a modern car can be, and yet it’s taken three years of development to get to this point. But this is more than bargain-basement motoring. Slate is presenting its …

Deadly crashes and fire in Wyoming highway tunnel started with pickup losing control, NTSB says

Mar 20, 2025 03:10 AM IST Deadly crashes and fire in Wyoming highway tunnel started with pickup losing control, NTSB says GREEN RIVER, Wyo. — A series of chain-reaction crashes and a fire in a Wyoming highway tunnel that killed three people started when a pickup truck lost control and partially blocked traffic on the slick roadway, federal investigators said Wednesday. Deadly crashes and fire in Wyoming highway tunnel started with pickup losing control, NTSB says It had snowed before the Feb. 14 crashes along Interstate 80, the primary east-west road corridor through Wyoming, near the small town of Green River, Wyoming. The highway was wet with possible ice or slush near the tunnel exit when a westbound Toyota pickup drove out of the tunnel and spun, hitting a guardrail before stopping, blocking the right lane and part of the left lane, the National Transportation Safety Board said in a preliminary report. Other vehicles headed out of the tunnel tried to avoid hitting the Toyota, including a tractor-trailer that jackknifed and blocked both lanes of …

Tesla Cybertruck: all the news about Elon Musk’s pickup truck

Tesla Cybertruck: all the news about Elon Musk’s pickup truck

Here’s everything you need to know about Tesla’s first pickup truck, which Elon Musk has called “heart-stopping” and his “personal favorite” of Tesla’s vehicles. Pickups have become more popular lately — their share of the US light vehicle market increased to 17.5 percent in 2019, from just under 13 percent in 2012. They’re also the fastest-growing auto segment in the US. That makes Tesla’s entry into pickups sensible, analysts say. Another pickup perk: pricing. Pickups tend to be expensive. Even with direct competition from established players (like Ford’s forthcoming electric F-150) and newcomers (like Rivian), there is a ton of money to be made in pickup trucks.
