In Elbers’ resignation letter, he has sought waiver of his notice period and said that he will be available for any handover or transition if needed. However, it was not confirmed how long his notice period is. The aviation regulator DGCA on Saturday issued a show cause notice to IndiGo chief executive Pieter Elbers, holding him directly accountable for “significant lapses in planning, oversight, and resource management” and giving him 24 hours to explain why enforcement action should not be initiated for violations that precipitated the country’s worst aviation crisis in years. Following a week of widespread flight cancellations and soaring ticket prices, the government has imposed temporary caps on domestic airfares to ease the burden on passengers. IndiGo cancelled over 1,600 flights nationwide in the past week, causing chaos across airports, reducing seat availability, and prompting what the Ministry of Civil Aviation described as an “unreasonable surge” in fares on major routes. In a directive issued Friday, the ministry announced maximum fare limits for different route lengths, effective immediately:   Important: Fares exclude airport levies and taxes • Not applicable to business class and UDAN flights • Valid until fares stabilise or further review Express InfoGenIE   The caps exclude User Development Fee, Passenger Service Fee, and other taxes, and do not apply to Business Class or Regional Connectivity Scheme-UDAN flights.
