Police rescue woman from 25-foot pit in Nagarabhavi

According to police, the woman, identified as Sudha Parimala, fell into the pit during the early hours of Friday. Her son immediately alerted the 112 emergency helpline, seeking assistance. Officers at the control room alerted the Chandra Layout Police Station, following which ASI Srinivas Murthy and head constable Vinoda of the Hoysala-61 patrol team were dispatched. The officers reached the location within four minutes and located the woman inside the pit with the help of the mobile phone that she was carrying. The police used a rope to safely pull the woman out of the pit. She was later shifted to a private hospital for treatment. Police have arrested a subcontractor for failing to alert the authorities about Kamal Dhyani falling into a pit leading to his death, police said. DCP (West) Darade Bhaskar said, Rajesh Kumar Prajapati , 47, knew that someone had fallen into the pit, hours before the matter came to the police’s notice. Call detail records showed that he was informed about the incident at around 12.22 am.  However, Prajapati neither informed the police nor any emergency authority. New Delhi, Delhi Urban Development Minister Ashish Sood on Saturday said the government has suspended the officials suspected of negligence in connection with the death of a motorcyclist who fell into a pit dug up for construction work by the Delhi Jal Board in west Delhi’s Janakpuri area.
