Rajat Patidar reacts to RCB’s nine-wicket win over DC: ‘On flat pitches, you need the bowling’ | Cricket News

3 min readApr 28, 2026 07:15 AM IST The Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) sealed a commanding nine-wicket win over Delhi Capitals at the Arun Jaitley Stadium on Monday, led by outstanding new ball spells from Bhuvneshwar Kumar and Josh Hazlewood, who shared seven wickets between them. Captain Rajat Patidar credited his bowlers for setting up the win, but admitted that he was surprised by how the pitch behaved after he won the toss and elected to field first. “Absolutely. Even I am surprised the way wicket played. All credit goes to the bowlers, Bhuvi and Hazlewood. They hit the right areas. The swing was normal, but the good thing was we got early wickets, and that kept us in the driving seat. The way Suyash bowled, stump to stump, it was really good to see,” Patidar said during the post-match presentation. Last game at the Arun Jaitley Stadium had seen a belter of a pitch, where Punjab Kings had chased down the highest successful score in IPL history. Patidar admitted that teams needed to have …

How the University of Tennessee’s agricultural college is helping FIFA bring consistency to grass on football World Cup pitches?

4 min readApr 26, 2026 08:38 PM IST More Americans get screaming notices for unsatisfactorily mowed front lawns than parking tickets. They may not be batshit crazy about football or soccer, but Americans can get ridiculously pedantic and particular about their front yard grass or turf lawns. So when FIFA faced a knotty issue – eight of the sixteen stadiums hosting the World Cup were designed for artificial turf—and FIFA only used natural turf, USA’s ace grass experts were summoned. The University of Tennessee (UT), Knoxville’s world-renowned turfgrass experts led a first-of-its-kind research collaboration with Michigan State University and FIFA, the global governing body for soccer, to set up the pitches. While the uneven bounce at Pan-Am drew criticism, the UT were confronted with the eventual question. “How can a soccer ball bounce the same on a pitch in Vancouver, Canada, and in Mexico City?” the UT website writes. So through a five-year research project, UT’s expert turfgrass team developed turfgrass systems along with irrigation, maintenance, and testing methods to produce identical pitches that were …

Ryan Gosling is ‘jealous’ of Hrithik Roshan; admits he hasn’t watched Koi… Mil Gaya, pitches Jaadu–Rocky crossover | Bollywood News

Hollywood star Ryan Gosling and Hrithik Roshan recently engaged in a lively and candid conversation, during which the former admitted he was “jealous” of Hrithik for starring in Koi… Mil Gaya. The interaction took place as part of the promotions for Ryan’s upcoming sci-fi film Hail Mary, which released in Indian theatres today after premiering in London on March 20, followed by its US release via Amazon MGM Studios. While discussing their films in a video uploaded by Sony Pictures India, Hrithik said, “We are perhaps the only two actors who have really close friendships with these cute little aliens. You have Rocky, and I have Jaadu. I don’t know if you’ve seen a film I did called Koi… Mil Gaya.” Ryan responded with curiosity, “I want to see it — that sounds great. What’s your relationship with it? What is it? Is it an alien?” Hrithik explained, “Yes, he’s an alien. I play a boy who gets bullied in school.” Intrigued, Ryan asked, “How do I pronounce his name? Despite ‘bad for business’ pitches, Cricket Australia to continue allowing local curators to prepare home Test surfaces

3 min readUpdated: Mar 23, 2026 04:22 PM IST Despite its recent home Test pitches in the 2025-26 Ashes series marking “bad for business”, Cricket Australia (CA) has decided against taking control over the playing surfaces across the country. Last year, the Ashes matches in Perth and Melbourne ended in two days, costing CA about AUD 15 million in revenue. Despite the monetary setbacks, the CA has maintained that a one-dimensional approach will not work for the varying conditions across the vast country. CA’s head of operations, Peter Roach, recently told the Australian Associated Press that it would be imprudent to overlook the pitches from a central standpoint. “It’s inconceivable that we could ever control much more than we do now,” Roach said. “In England, you could put in a central curator to go around or New Zealand, or South Africa, because the wickets and the clays and the climates are so similar.” “In Australia, because they’re so different, you could put the best curator in Australia to a different venue and all of a …
