File | Photo Credit: PTI Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Tuesday (June 30, 2026) exhorted the Secretaries of all Union Ministries and Departments to focus on ensuring the tangible impact of government schemes on the lives of people, and on boosting “atmanirbharta (self-reliance)”. Nearly 80 Secretaries, including Cabinet Secretary T.V. Somanathan, were present at the meeting, which comes amid talks of a Cabinet reshuffle. Mr. Modi focussed on the key themes of ease of doing business and ease of living, through deregulation and other reforms, apart from promoting self-reliance. The Prime Minister stressed the importance of adopting a whole-of-government approach, asking the departments to work together rather than in isolation. Emphasising the significance of integrated planning and coordination, he encouraged wider utilisation of the PM GatiShakti as an effective platform for inter-departmental coordination and informed decision-making.
