Northeast Delhi riots larger conspiracy case: HC dismisses Delhi Police’s appeal against bail granted to Ishrat Jahan | Delhi News

2 min readNew DelhiApr 25, 2026 08:32 AM IST The Delhi High Court on Friday dismissed the Delhi Police’s appeal against the bail granted to former Congress councillor Ishrat Jahan in the larger conspiracy case linked to the 2020 Northeast Delhi riots. A practising advocate, Ishrat Jahan was the first person to be granted bail in this case, by a trial court, after spending two years in jail in the Delhi riots Unlawful Activities (Prevention) Act (UAPA) case in March 2022. A division bench of Justices Navin Chawla and Ravinder Dudeja on Friday dismissed the appeal against the trial court’s order, noting that it was not inclined to interfere with the order. More than four years have passed since the bail was granted and there are no allegations that Jahan has violated her bail conditions in any manner, the High Court also noted. In 2024, the trial court modified Jahan’s bail conditions, allowing her to travel all over India without prior permission of the court. The court, in 2022, had granted her bail on the …

Over 1,200 youths received employment offers during a special job fair organised by the Gadchiroli Police in Maharashtra under `Project Udaan` on April 16, 2026, officials said. They said that the aim was to provide employment opportunities to the youth in remote areas of once Maoist-hit Gadchiroli. The event was held at Shaheed Pandu Alam Hall in the police headquarters and aimed at supporting educated young men and women from rural and tribal regions, an official statement said on Thursday. “A total of 1,278 candidates received job offers from 38 reputed companies. These included firms such as Mahindra & Mahindra, Tata Motors, Flipkart and DMart.Selected candidates were offered annual salary packages ranging from Rs 1.8 lakh to Rs 3.6 lakh,” it said. Security forces in Odisha have intensified their final push to either eliminate the remaining cadres or compel their surrender, launching a hot pursuit of Sukru alias Krishna, a State Committee Member who is leading the last small group of CPI (Maoist) operatives in the State. Panchkula police has said that under its Operation Clean Up, it has arrested 89 accused in 64 separate cases, including several notorious and “most wanted” offenders. Police officials said the coordinated action not only led to key arrests but also helped prevent several potential crimes through timely intervention. Deputy Commissioner of Police (Crime) Manpreet Singh Sudan said that the ACP Crime, along with in-charges of all crime units and their teams, maintained continuous field presence and focused on curbing theft, vehicle lifting, illegal liquor supply, snatching, robbery, dacoity, arms trafficking and narcotics. He added that officers often faced direct resistance from criminals but acted with courage and restraint to overpower them. During the month-long drive, police recovered a significant haul of illegal arms, including five country-made pistols, four other pistols, one revolver, sixteen live cartridges and a knife.
