While 480 companies have already been deployed in the state earlier this month, the centre would deploy another 1920 companies over the next one month in phases. “The first batch of 300 companies would be inducted by March 31. The last batch comprising 743 companies would arrive by April 17,” said an officer of the state home department. The Election Commission has ordered the appointment of Dushyant Nariala as the new chief secretary of West Bengal which goes to assembly polls in two phases next month. Till now, Nandini Chakravarty was the state chief secretary. In a letter to the state government sent on Sunday night, the poll authority also directed the appointment of Sanghamitra Ghosh, IAS, as Principal Secretary of the Home and Hill Affairs Department. “The officers transferred out shall not be posted in any election-related posts until the completion of the elections,” the EC underlined. It said its directions are to be implemented with immediate effect and a compliance report in respect of joining of the officers should be sent by 03:00 pm on Monday. Chennai : Tamil Nadu chief minister MK Stalin on Friday credited ₹5,000 into bank accounts of 13.1 million women beneficiaries of the DMK government’s flagship monthly assistance scheme, triggering sharp reactions from the Opposition who flayed his move as “fear of defeat at the hustings” in the poll-bound state. The CM also announced to double the monthly grant to ₹2,000, if his DMK party was voted to power in the upcoming assembly elections. In total, CM Stalin deposited ₹5,000 into the bank accounts of 1.31 crore women across the state.
