Indian compound archers continued their solid display, concluding the first stage of the Archery Asia Cup in Bangkok, Thailand, with seven medals on Friday. The Indian male archers had a remarkable podium sweep in the Individual compound event, where Uday Kamboj won the title with a 145-144 win over Prathamesh Jawkar. Indian Compound Archers dominate at Asia Cup Stage 1

Indian archers delivered a dominant performance in the qualification rounds of the Asia Cup Stage 1 in Bangkok, securing multiple entries into the pre-quarterfinals across categories. All four Indian compound men, Rajat Chauhan, Rishabh Yadav, Uday Kamboj and Prathamesh Jawkar, advanced to the pre-quarterfinal stage after occupying the top four positions in the individual rankings. Chauhan led the field with an impressive 712, followed by Yadav (708), Kamboj (706) and Jawkar (703), all crossing the 700-mark. In the recurve women’s category, Ruma Biswas, Kirti and Ridhi Phor also progressed to the pre-quarterfinals. Biswas emerged as the top Indian performer, finishing second with a score of 650, narrowly behind the leader. Prathamesh Fuge wins compound men’s gold medal

Indian archer Prathamesh Fuge overcame a tough challenge to defeat the defending champion Shamai Yamrom in the men’s compound final at the 2025 Veronica’s Cup, a World Ranking Tournament, in Kamnik, Slovenia, on Sunday. The Indian started the match on a slow note, falling 2 points behind the Israeli archer after two sets. The Indian, however, bounced back with three sets of perfect 30 to force a shoot-off in the final. In the shoot-off, both Fuge and Yamrom shot a perfect 10, but the former won the gold medal by virtue of a 10-ring shot closer to the centre. Jyothi Surekha, Abhishek among seven compound archers added to TOPS core group

The Mission Olympic Cell (MOC) inducted seven compound archers into the Target Olympic Podium Scheme (TOPS) Core group at their 155th meeting on Wednesday. The MOC took cognizance of International Olympic Committee’s (IOC) recent decision to make compound archery part of the Los Angeles 2028 Olympics. The 155th MOC was attended by Pullela Gopichand, Viren Rasquinha, Prashanti Singh, Kamlesh Mehta, MM Somaya, Siddharth Shanker of Reliance Foundation, among others. It is the first time since archery’s re-introduction to the Olympic Games in 1972 that a new bow style has been added to the competition. The seven compound archers inducted directly into the TOPS Core group are Ojas Pravin Deotale, Jyothi Surekha Vennam, Aditi Swami, Abhishek Verma, Parneet Kaur, Priyansh, and Prathamesh Jawkar. For induction in TOPS Core, the seven archers fulfilled the eligibility criteria of having average arrow score of 9.77+ for men and 9.67+ for women apart from being a medallist at the recently held World Championships or World Games, top-4 rank in team event of World Championships or World Games or individual/team medallist …
