Bombay HC denies pre-arrest bail to former school principal accused of misappropriation of mid-day meal grains during pandemic | Mumbai News
The Bombay High Court denied anticipatory bail to a former principal of an aided school in Chembur, suburban Mumbai, on Thursday over alleged misappropriation of foodgrains meant for the mid-day meal scheme during the pandemic crisis. The HC passed an order on a pre-arrest bail application by Radha Narayan, who served as the principal of Swami Vivekanand High School and Junior College in 2021. Narayan was booked earlier this month by Chunabhatti Police Station in the city for cheating and criminal breach of trust. According to the prosecution, the School Education Department provides foodgrains to aided schools for students up to Class 8 under the mid-day meal scheme and schools are expected to provide cooked food to the students with the assistance of self-help groups.
