According to sources, investigators have uncovered evidence suggesting multiple transactions in Bengaluru-based Rajesh Exports’ shares via alleged benamidars, through which more than $20 million may have been siphoned out of the country. The searches also revealed a major discrepancy in the company’s gold holdings, with the physical stock of the metal found during the operation allegedly around 40% lower than the quantity reflected in the company’s books of accounts, sources said. The hatchlings were recovered from the premises of a house on Seetharam Lane. The incident first came to light when house owner Karthik’s brother spotted two snake hatchlings near the canal adjoining the house. More hatchlings were found across the compound later in the day. Around eight were caught on the first day, with two slipping into the water. A fresh search on Thursday morning led to the capture of 10 more hatchlings, including some found inside a scooter parked in front of the house. The hatchlings, each around 50 cm long, were handed over to forest officials. As per the preliminary assessment by the Forest department a python may have entered from the nearby canal, laid eggs in or around the house foundation, and the hatchlings might have emerged recently. The Enforcement Directorate (ED) on Friday carried out searches at the residence of Punjab minister and MLA Sanjeev Arora, his son Kavya Arora, and his two business partners across Haryana, Chandigarh and Punjab in connection with an ongoing investigation under the Foreign Exchange Management Act (FEMA). Officials said the raids have been underway since early Friday, covering 13 premises in Haryana`s Gurugram, Chandigarh, and Punjab`s Ludhiana and Jalandhar. PRAYAGRAJ The Allahabad high court recently ruled that no permission was required for holding a religious prayer meetings within private premises in Uttar Pradesh as long as the activity remains within private premises and the gathering does not spill into public spaces. The court was dealing with two similar petitions moved by Maranatha Full Gospel Ministries and Emmanuel Grace Charitable Trust, both Christian bodies, seeking holding of prayers within private premises. However, the court clarified that if any occasion arises where it has to spill over the public road or public property, in such a situation, the petitioner shall intimate the police and take any requisite permission under the law. The court was dealing with two similar petitions moved by Maranatha Full Gospel Ministries and Emmanuel Grace Charitable Trust, both Christian bodies, seeking holding of prayers within private premises but the state failed to act on their representations seeking permission for it.
