Mr. Banerjee arrived at the ED’s CGO Complex office at 11 a.m. in response to a summons in a money laundering probe linked to alleged irregularities in the recruitment of primary school teachers. He left the office at night. “I was questioned for over eight hours yesterday [on Sunday] and for 11 hours today [Monday]. This is a 2023 case and I have appeared before the agency 10-12 times. I won’t say whether there is a political pressure or not. The less said of the BJP, the better. On the one side, they break our party and indulge in post-poll violence. Even if you slit my throat, I won’t cower down… I will appear before the agency if they summon me even in the future,” Mr. Banerjee said, while leaving the ED office. Who is winning California governor primary? Steve Hilton, Xavier Becerra emerge ahead as race stays too close to call

California’s gubernatorial primary remained too close to call Tuesday night, with Republican Steve Hilton and Democrats Xavier Becerra and Tom Steyer emerging as the leading contenders in a fragmented race. Becerra (L) gained momentum in the closing weeks of the campaign after initially struggling in public polls. Meanwhile, Hilton (R) campaigned aggressively against what he described as California’s “one-party rule.” (Reuters, Getty Images via AFP) According to The Guardian, millions of ballots still need to be counted across the state, meaning final results may not be known for several days. California’s heavy reliance on mail-in voting and lengthy ballot verification process frequently delays definitive outcomes in tightly contested elections. The race to replace term-limited Governor Gavin Newsom attracted an unusually large field of 61 candidates. Under California’s “jungle primary” system, all candidates appear on a single ballot regardless of party affiliation, with only the top two vote-getters advancing to the general election. Early concessions as top contenders pull ahead Early returns were strong enough for San Jose Mayor Matt Mahan and former Los Angeles Mayor …

Ramesh Chennithala alleges scam in software contract for primary agriculture credit societies in Kerala

Ramesh Chennithala alleges scam in software contract for primary agriculture credit societies in Kerala

Senior Congress leader Ramesh Chennithala on Friday alleged that ground is being prepared in the Kerala’s Cooperation department for a major scam in connection with the development of a ‘uniform software solution’ for 4,415 primary agriculture cooperative credit society (PACS) branches in the State. Addressing a press conference here, Mr. Chennithala said that the original decision to award the contract to Tata Consultancy Services (TCS) for ₹206 crore was cancelled and a fresh tender was invited under mysterious circumstances. The CPI(M)-led LDF government is attempting to award the work to Kannur-based Kerala Dinesh Beedi Workers’ Central Cooperative Society Ltd which has quoted ₹58 crore for providing the software solution to 280 cooperatives, he said. At that rate, equipping all 4,415 cooperative society branches would cost around ₹914 crore, resulting in a loss of ₹700 crore to the State when compared to the amount quoted by TCS, Mr. Chennithala alleged. The Cooperation department had issued orders accepting the TCS’s single tender for the work in September 2023. The financial bid was approved through a government order …

Teachers from all 21 education blocks in Shimla district participated in the rally, demanding the withdrawal of the notification issued by the Education Department last year about the new campus or cluster system, with association office-bearers stating, “The September 23, 2025, notification grants complete administrative control and management of primary education to school principals, which is against the interests of primary teachers.” General secretary Hem Prakash Verma said, “Since 1984, primary education has been functioning under a separate administrative structure and cluster system. With the implementation of the new arrangement, work will become centralised and can adversely affect the quality of education. The decision effectively places primary teachers under dual administrative units and may weaken the primary education framework in the future.” The association said …

‘A captain’s job is not just toss and manage bowlers… your primary role is to score runs’: Aakash Chopra’s scathing words on Suryakumar Yadav’s form | Cricket News

With 201 runs in 19 T20Is this year, Indian T20 captain Suryakumar Yadav is not in the best of form in the shortest format of the game. The 35-year-old played a four-ball knock of five runs during India’s 51-run loss against South Africa in the second T20I at Mullanpur on Thursday. It also meant Yadav’s average in T20Is this year dropped to 14.35 in a total of 17 innings and the Indian captain has a strike rate of 126.45 in the format this year. Former Indian cricketer Aakash Chopra sees this as a problem and termed Yadav’s primary role in the team ‘to score runs’. “You are the team’s captain, but a captain’s job is not just to toss and manage the bowlers. It’s not just about making the strategy. If you bat in the top four, your primary role is to score runs. It’s been many matches. If you have an average of 14 in 17 innings and the strike rate is also not very good, you don’t have a single fifty, and have …
