Pacers Prince, Mayank & Sooryavanshi deliver as Shreyas tastes first win vs Zim

5 min readChennaiJul 23, 2026 09:46 PM IST After seven winless outings, Shreyas Iyer finally tasted success as India’s T20I captain as a young pace crop and Vaibhav Sooryavanshi brushed aside Zimbabwe at Harare on Thursday. Having struggled to get used to the conditions in Ireland and England over the past month, India made the necessary adjustments, restricting the hosts to 125/7 before chasing it down for the loss of three wickets with a third of the innings left. While it was Sooryavanshi’s maiden international half-century – 50 off 19 deliveries that included four boundaries and as many sixes – that hogged the limelight, it was the pacers led by Mayank Yadav who ensured there wasn’t to be any repeat of the humblings in Ireland. Having rested a few pacers for the trip, the changed coaching staff led by VVS Laxman preferred specialists over all-rounders. It meant batting depth was compromised, but it was still a strong outfit. 🇿🇼 𝐒𝐄 𝐊𝐄𝐇 𝐃𝐄𝐍𝐀 𝐒𝐎𝐎𝐑𝐘𝐀𝐕𝐀𝐍𝐒𝐇𝐈 𝐀𝐀𝐘𝐀 𝐇𝐀𝐈 🥵 𝐑𝐔𝐊𝐄𝐆𝐀 𝐍𝐀𝐇𝐈, 𝐓𝐇𝐎𝐊𝐄𝐆𝐀 😎 Watch it LIVE on FanCode! …

Vaibhav Suryavanshi, Mayank Yadav Shine as India Snap T20I Losing Streak

Vaibhav Suryavanshi, Mayank Yadav Shine as India Snap T20I Losing Streak

A brilliant knock from Vaibhav Suryavanshi and spells from Mayank Yadav and Prince Yadav set up India’s 7-wicket victory against Zimbabwe on July 23 at Harare. The 15-year old prodigy smashed a 19-ball fifty after Mayank Yadav and Prince Yadav’s destructive spells guided the Men in Blues to end their losing streak in the short format. After choosing to bowl first, India gained the upper hand by dismissing the top order in the power play. Brian Bennett and Ben Curran opened the innings while Mayank Yadav opened the bowling attack. The pacer picked the wicket of Bennett on a golden duck of the innings, while Prince Yadav bagged the wicket of Ben Curran for 10 runs. Mayank Yadav bagged his second wicket, dismissing Dion Myers for 6 runs. With Sikandar Raza and Ryan Burl at the crease, Zimbabwe scored 26 runs in the power play. With the dismissal of Raza, Ryan Burl, Wessly Madhevere, and Tadiwanashe Marumani tried to stabilise the innings with some contribution. However, Zimbabwe lost seven wickets for 125 runs in their …

India beat Zimbabwe by 7 wickets in Shreyas Iyer’s first win as captain

1 min readJul 23, 2026 07:47 PM IST Vaibhav Sooryavanshi smashed 50 in 19 balls as India eased to a seven wicket win against Zimbabwe in the first T20I in Harare with 40 balls to spare. Shreyas Iyer has thus finally recorded his first win as India’s T20I captain, having lost six out of his first seven games in the tours of Ireland and England. India’s new-look pace lineup led the way with Mayank Yadav and Prince Yadav returning figures of 2/18 and 2/19 respectively as Zimbabwe were restricted to a paltry score of 125/7 in 20 overs. Sooryavanshi then launched a trademark assault on the Zimbabwean bowlers, which pretty much sealed the deal for India. He fell to Richard Ngarava in the seventh over, by which time India had already raced to 68 runs. To be updated… Disclaimer: We do not own any of the content, ideas, images, or text presented here. Bharat Arun found Mohammed Siraj. Now he searches for India’s next pace sensation

5 min readChennaiJul 20, 2026 09:05 PM IST Former India bowling coach Bharat Arun, who assembled a pace attack that West Indies great Andy Roberts said in 2019 he envied, is set to launch a nation-wide camp to unearth young fast bowlers. Arun’s plan is to identify and nurture another Mohammed Siraj, whom he had spotted in 2017 during a net session in Hyderabad and paved his path to the Indian team in 2020. Since stepping down as India’s bowling coach in 2021, Arun runs an academy (Coaching Beyond) in association with Ravi Shastri and R Sridhar in Chennai and Hyderabad. Since leaving the India role, he has been a part of an IPL-winning team – Kolkata Knight Riders – in 2024 and is currently part of the Lucknow Super Giants setup. “Siraj is a wonderful story for other young upcoming fast bowlers to emulate. And in our own way, we want to do something from Coaching Beyond. It’s not only a challenge to us, but it’s also, I think, one way of doing something …

Why India pacers struggle in Jasprit Bumrah’s absence?

Why India pacers struggle in Jasprit Bumrah’s absence?

5 min readJul 20, 2026 06:36 PM IST When Rohit Sharma admitted after Sunday’s ODI series-decider defeat to England that India’s bowling attack was “inexperienced”, he was stating the obvious. Arshdeep Singh, Prince Yadav and Gurnoor Brar have played a combined 27 ODIs between them. But England’s victory also exposed a deeper issue. India’s reserve fast bowlers are still trying to master a format that has changed over the last few years. Jasprit Bumrah’s absence was always going to weaken India. Mohammed Siraj’s absence only added to India’s problems. But if they are to succeed without Bumrah before next year’s World Cup, the question is not whether the backup seamers are inexperienced. It is whether they possess the skill set modern ODI cricket now demands. Sunday’s match was effectively decided in the first 10 overs. Depth exposed England were only 58/0, but Ben Duckett and Jacob Bethell had already identified India’s biggest problem. Arshdeep found movement, Prince sprayed the ball on either side of the wicket, and Prasidh Krishna, despite recovering late in the powerplay, …

Shreyas Iyer remains winless as India T20I captain after record 125-run defeat

Shreyas Iyer remains winless as India T20I captain after record 125-run defeat

It feels like 2011 again. Where an empire that looked unshakable only months back has been brought to the ground in the most stunning fashion. Three months after becoming the first team ever to successfully defend the T20 World Cup, India remain winless on their trip to Ireland and the UK and are staring at a second successive series defeat, having already lost to Ireland. Set 202 to win in Nottingham, with MS Dhoni watching from the stands on his 45th birthday, India folded for 76 in 11.4 overs, losing by a record 125 margin – their worst ever- on Tuesday, and go 0-2 down in the series. As has been the case throughout this tour, India failed to bring their A-game to the fore and paid for it. It is the first instance where India are without a win in five successive matches. A new T20 cycle calls for changes in personnel. But given India’s depth, the fact that they have been listless so far is a concern. A series that promised fireworks is …

How Shubman Gill and Ishan Kishan put Afghanistan into submission | Cricket News

This was a match that India used to tick various boxes put in front of them, without having a lot of stress to deal with. Shubman Gill was imperious in his first ODI century as India captain, and made it 154 for good measure. After anchoring a chase in Dharamshala, taking control of matters batting first would be another aspect the home team would be pleased about, apart from the 170-run win, that sealed the three-match series against Afghanistan with a game to spare. Ishan Kishan showed he can provide the impetus needed in the middle order. His 125 off 79 balls, after reaching fifty at less than a run a ball, proved he has gears to his batting and can adapt to situations. Gill’s exertions in excessive heat – the conditions necessitated three drinks breaks in the first innings – meant the skipper didn’t come out on the field to defend a total of 402 due to cramps. It allowed India’s new T20 captain Shreyas Iyer to take charge in largely trouble-free circumstances as …

From banned teenager to England tour: Prince Yadav’s unlikely journey to India cap | Cricket News

“Mayank Yadav ek Indian player hai. Avesh Khan Indian player hai. Mohsin Khan, woh bhi India khel sakta hai. Sachin Tendulkar ka ladka Arjun bhi hai. Tera number kaise padega?” Ram Niwas Yadav had been counting names. He knew what each one meant. His son Prince was somewhere in the Lucknow Super Giants pace pack, trying to find his way past four established names ahead of him. The IPL contract the previous year had not settled the father. He’d seen how these things ended. It has not ended the way he feared. On Saturday, Prince Yadav was named in India’s T20I squad for the tours of Ireland and England, the latest step in a journey that has moved faster than anyone in Dariyapur Khurd could have imagined. He had already earned a maiden ODI call-up for the Afghanistan series last month. Now he is going to England. Ram Niwas, a retired ASI from the Railway Protection Special Force, remembers the afternoon Prince called home before boarding the team bus during the IPL, as he did …
