However, the agency told the news outlet that release dates can shift due to several routine factors, including “good conduct time,” participation in approved prison programs and activities, and credit for time served before sentencing. Karthi, the prime accused in the case of sexual assault and murder of a 10-year-old girl near Sulur in Coimbatore, was admitted to the Coimbatore Medical College Hospital on Saturday (May 30, 2026) with grievous injuries after being attacked by inmates at the Central Prison in Coimbatore. A Fast Track Special Court in Sonipat has sentenced national-level archery coach Kuldeep Vedwan to five years of rigorous imprisonment in a sexual harassment case involving a minor female archer. The court convicted Vedwan under provisions of the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO) Act and also imposed a fine of ₹15,000. Along with the five-year sentence under Section 10 of the Act, the court awarded an additional three-year sentence under Section 12. Both sentences will run concurrently.
