Ex-Pakistan Star Namedrops Prithvi Shaw In Brutal Warning For Yashasvi Jaiswal: “Make You Cry…”

Yashasvi Jaiswal in action during IPL 2025© AFP Former Pakistan cricketer Basit Ali sent a bold message to out-of-form Yashasvi Jaiswal to bring his focus back to cricket and love the sport to avoid a fate borne by Prithvi Shaw, who was at one point considered a young sensation bound to be a blockbuster hit in international cricket for India. Jaiswal has lost his mojo since returning from Australia after a heartbreaking 3-1 series defeat in the Border-Gavaskar Trophy. A young talent who took the world by storm since bursting onto the scene in 2023 is now a victim of criticism stemming from his lacklustre performances in the ongoing Indian Premier League (IPL) 2025. Apart from notching up 67 against Sunrisers Hyderabad, Jaiswal’s bat has resorted to silence. The 23-year-old, who was Rajasthan Royals’ knight in shining armour, is now in a position to live up to his reputation as games come thick and fast in the action-packed, cash-rich league. While a player is destined to go through an underwhelming run in his …

“If You Ask Me What’s Wrong…”: Prithvi Shaw Given Unfiltered Advice To Resurrect Career

“If You Ask Me What’s Wrong…”: Prithvi Shaw Given Unfiltered Advice To Resurrect Career

Prithvi Shaw remains an enigma in Indian cricket. Once hailed as the second-coming of Sachin Tendulkar, Shaw’s career has derailed after only five Tests, six ODIs and one T20I for India. Recently, things have hit rock bottom, with the 25-year-old going unsold in the IPL 2025 mega auction, and also being left out of Mumbai’s Vijay Hazare Trophy and Ranji Trophy squads. Punjab Kings (PBKS) star Shashank Singh, who played with Shaw for Mumbai, has elaborated on what might be going wrong for him. Shashank name-dropped Prithvi Shaw while listing the players who he felt could go on to be great openers for India in the future. As a result, Shaw was named alongside the likes of Shubman Gill and Yashasvi Jaiswal. Here is when Shashank was asked about Shaw’s struggles. “Prithvi Shaw is underrated. If he goes back to his basics, he can achieve anything. I know him since he was 13, since I’ve played club cricket with him in Bombay. If you ask me what’s wrong with him, he has a …

Shreyas Iyer Lends Blunt Advice To ‘God-Gifted’ Prithvi Shaw

Shreyas Iyer Lends Blunt Advice To ‘God-Gifted’ Prithvi Shaw

The career of Prithvi Shaw has unravelled in recent years, having not only fallen out of contention for the senior India team, but also fallen out of favour at the domestic level for Mumbai. Shaw, now 25, has been dropped from Mumbai’s Ranji Trophy and Vijay Hazare Trophy squads off late, and criticised for his work ethic by Mumbai’s T20 captain Shreyas Iyer. Now Iyer, who will captain Punjab Kings (PBKS) in IPL 2025, has emphasised his confidence in Prithvi Shaw’s abilities, but issued a similar warning regarding his work ethic. Speaking in an interview with the Indian Express, Iyer had a simple advice for Shaw. “Prithvi Shaw also started on a great note. He’s got a great blessing of timing the ball and scoring runs at a great pace. And all of us in the team feel that he is blessed with that phenomenal talent. So, he just has to focus on his work ethic and everything else will follow,” Iyer said. “He is God-gifted,” Iyer added, showing how highly Shaw is …

Shreyas Iyer Sets Expectations Clear From Under-Fire Prithvi Shaw: “Everything Else Will…”

Shreyas Iyer wants Prithvi Shaw to work on his fitness and everything will fall into place.© Instagram Batter Prithvi Shaw was one of the hottest prospects in world cricket when he first burst on the scene in 2018. However, off-field controversies and poor fitness have seen the talented batter fall out of favour, both in the Indian team and his domestic side Mumbai. The player also went unsold at the IPL 2025 mega auction last year, following his release by Delhi Capitals. As Shaw looks to revive his career, fellow batter and Mumbai teammate Shreyas Iyer has shared a piece of advice for the 25-year-old. Iyer suggested that while everyone is aware of Shaw’s potential as a batter, the latter needs to work on his fitness and everything will fall into place for him. “Prithvi Shaw also started on a great note. He’s got a great blessing of timing the ball and scoring runs at a great pace. And all of us in the team feel that he is blessed with that phenomenal …

“Half The Facts…”: Prithvi Shaw’s Cryptic Post After Mumbai Cricket Association’s ‘Came To Hotel At 6’ Claim

File photo of Prithvi Shaw.© BCCI Prithvi Shaw continues to stay in the headlines for his reported on field acts as well as off the field actions. The player for long has been out of contention for the Indian cricket team. Shaw last played an international game in July 2021 and has since failed to make a cut in the India XI across formats. This is not it as Shaw also failed to keep his place in the Mumbai team, of late. The player has not been picked in the side’s squad for Vijay Hazare Trophy, starting December 21. Mutiple reports have said that form is not the only reason for Shaw’s exclusion from the team regulary as his fitness and behaviour have also been among the major concerns. A recent PTI report claimed that during the Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy, Shaw missed training sessions regularly after showing up at the team hotel at “six in the morning” being out for most of the night. After the claim went viral, Shaw came up …

“Rightly Went Unsold”: Prithvi Shaw Once Again Under Fire After Disappointing Show

Prithvi Shaw once again came under a lot of fire after he failed to score big for Mumbai in the Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy final against Madhya Pradesh on Sunday. While Mumbai ended up clinching the trophy quite easily, Prithvi was dismissed for 10 off 6 deliveries. It has been a tough year for Prithvi after he went unsold in the IPL 2025 auction and he finished the tournament without a single 50+ score. Prithvi started his innings well but was dismissed early by Tripuresh Singh. Users on social media were not happy with his failure and they were quick to express their disappointment. Prithvi Shaw rightly went unsold at the auction. No fitness. No fielding. No discipline. Cameos at best with the bat. — Vipul Ghatol 🇮🇳 (@Vipul_Espeaks) December 15, 2024 Mumbai leaned on their collective batting strength to subdue a spirited Madhya Pradesh by five wickets to clinch the Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy on Sunday. Mumbai were stretched on more than one occasion during the chase of 175, a target …

Ajinkya Rahane, Prithvi Shaw, Shivam Dube Combine To Smash World Record In Historic Chase For Mumbai

Ajinkya Rahane, Prithvi Shaw, Shivam Dube Combine To Smash World Record In Historic Chase For Mumbai

Mumbai made a mockery out of Vidarbha’s total of 221/6 to enter the semi-finals of the Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy on Wednesday. By doing so, the Shreyas Iyer-led side smashed the record books in T20 cricket. Mumbai achieved the highest successful chase in a Men’s T20 knockout game, and are also the first team to chase 220 or more. They surpassed Karachi Dolphins’ previous best tally of chasing 210 against Rawalpindi Rams in the semi-final of the Faysal Bank T20 Cup 2010 at the Gadaffi Stadium in Lahore. Recapping the match, Mumbai needed a strong chase and out-of-favour batter Ajinkya Rahane led from the front with an 84 off 45 balls (10×4, 3×6). Mumbai made 224 for four in 19.2 overs and they will face Baroda in the semifinals on Friday. Under-fire Prithvi Shaw (49, 26b, 5×4, 4×6) reminded of the immense talent beneath his callous exterior with a powerful knock as Mumbai marched to 83 in just 7 overs. Shaw fell to left-arm pacer Dipesh Parwani and that brought in a period …

Prithvi Shaw Shuts Down ‘Fitness’ Critics With Quickfire Knock In Mumbai’s Big Chase In Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy

Prithvi Shaw slammed 49 off just 26 balls to give Mumbai a strong foundation in their chase.© X (Twitter) Amid debate over his declining fitness standards, star batter Prithvi Shaw stormed back to form with a quickfire knock to help Mumbai beat Vidarbha in the Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy quarterfinals on Wednesday. Shaw, who has come under fierce criticism over his fitness of late, slammed 49 off just 26 balls to give Mumbai a strong foundation during their 222-run chase. He smacked five 4s and four 6s, striking at 188.46 as Mumbai achieved the target with four balls to spare. This comes after Shaw went unsold during the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2025 Mega Auction last month. Shaw’s knock comes as a big relief for the opening batter after he failed to attract any bidders at the IPL auction. Recently, former India cricketer Pravin Amre criticised Shaw for not putting hard yards in the gym and nets. Amre, who worked with Shaw at Delhi Capitals, also labelled the batter “his own enemy”, saying …

“He Didn’t Have A Mother, Father’s Business Was Not Working…”: Prithvi Shaw’s Back Story Comes To Light

“He Didn’t Have A Mother, Father’s Business Was Not Working…”: Prithvi Shaw’s Back Story Comes To Light

Prithvi Shaw, since not being picked in the IPL 2025 auction, has been in the news. Despite a modest base price of Rs 75 lakh, considering his potential, Shaw found no takers. Since then, Shaw has been in the limelight. For someone who broke domestic cricket records at will during the early stages of his career, Shaw’s journey has been a tale of paradoxes. He started his international career with a Test century in 2018 but played only five Tests since then. Though he featured in six ODIs and one T20I, Shaw’s career never flourished. Injury and off-form meant that he has for long been not considered for the national team.  Shaw has also been criticised for his off-field activities. However, coach Raju Pathak, who has seen Shaw grow up from close quarters, feels that it is unfair for people to expect a 25-year-old Shaw behave like a 40-year-old. “They were not well off. His father was trying some business but it was not working out. They had seen hard times and growing …

Prithvi Shaw Called “His Own Enemy” By Ex-Coach: “He is God-Gifted But…”

File photo of Prithvi Shaw© X (Twitter) Out-of-favour Indian cricket team batter Prithvi Shaw has been in the headlines lately for all the wrong reasons. Prithvi was dropped from the Mumbai team due to his fitness and the batter did not find any buyer in the IPL 2025 auction. Released by Delhi Capitals, the batter had a base price for Rs 75 lakh but he failed to attract even a single bid. It was a shocking turn of events for a batter who was considered to be a major young talent by experts and was the opening batter for India in Tests just a few years ago. Former India batter Pravin Amre, who coached Prithvi during his time with DC, said that he is “his own enemy” and pointed out that being “God-gifted” is not enough for a cricketer. “What we want, to be honest, is that he loses 10 kg and becomes match fit. What is stopping him is his fitness. Nobody has a doubt about his cricketing skill. He is God-gifted …
