The Centre has initiated fresh eviction proceedings against the Delhi Gymkhana Club in Lutyens’ Delhi by issuing a show-cause notice under the Public Premises (Eviction of Unauthorised Occupants) Act, 1971 barely a month after assuring the Delhi High Court that any eviction would be carried out only in accordance with law and after prior notice. The matter is now scheduled to be heard on July 28. The government says the lease ended on May 22 and the club is in unauthorised occupation, citing public purpose and governance infrastructure needs. Members of Tamil Nadu All Government College UGC Qualified Guest Lecturers’ Association have alleged anomalies in the process of recruitment of Assistant Professors to government and government-aided arts and science colleges in the State. They said that marks allotted by the Teachers’ Recruitment Board (TRB) against teaching experience to two of the candidates were found to be higher in the provisional selection list released after certificate verification and interview when compared to the mark list released after the exam. Both the candidates were selected and handed over appointment letters on March 13. According to V. Thangaraj, State President of the Guest Lecturers’ Association, the anomalies were noticed in the candidates’ lists for Marine Biology and Wildlife Biology departments. He said that as per the mark list released on February 25, prior to certificate verification and interview, M. Ashokkumar was given zero marks for experience. In a judgement dated May 29, Justice Neena Bansal Krishna said the continuation of the FIR registered by the Delhi Police’s Economic Offences Wing was “nothing but a gross abuse of the process of law” and once the FIR under predicate offence was quashed, the ED’s Enforcement Case Information Report (ECIR) in the matter was also liable to be closed. Continuous support was provided through video conferences, while objections raised by employees were addressed promptly. The entire counselling process was videographed. The sessions were conducted between May 13 and May 23, 2026, across the health circles of Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar, Nagpur, Akola, Nashik, Kolhapur, Pune, Latur and Thane, along with various specialised health institutions. The Central Board of Secondary Education on Tuesday issued a post-result support update for Class 12th, detailing the status of scanned copies of evaluated answer books and related requests. The CBSE has begun the process for re-evaluation and verification of answer sheets following concerns raised by some students. (HT File photo) According to the status bulletin as of 6 pm on May 26, CBSE said a total of 4,04,319 applications by students have been received for obtaining scanned copies of 11,31,961 answer books. Of these, 8,98,214 answer books have been furnished digitally, the board said, adding that the pending requests for scanned copies are expected to be fulfilled by Thursday.
