Makers allege unfair show allocation, put programming on hold

June’s first week has begun on a high note for cinephiles, with multiple releases lined up. From Bandar, Hai Jawani Toh Ishq Hona Hai, and Peddi to He-Man And The Masters Of The Universe, several films are hitting the screens. Bobby Deol’s Bandar has reportedly hit a roadblock in securing adequate shows at national multiplex chains, prompting its makers to put the film’s programming on hold. Bandar makers ask national chains to put programming on hold As per a report in Bollywood Hungama, a source told the portal, “The makers of Bandar planned for an audience-oriented release, requesting only 4 shows in 5-screen multiplexes and 3 shows in 4-screen plexes post 1 pm, which seems a fair and doable ask. But since PVR Inox and Cinepolis are distributing Hai Jawani Toh Ishq Hona Hai and PVR is partly distributing Peddi for Jio Studios, the national chains have allotted unfair shows to Bandar.” Disclaimer: We do not own any of the content, ideas, images, or text presented here. Agra has 19 shows against 2400 shows of De De Pyaar De 2, Kanul Behl and 49 other filmmakers demand transparency in programming, fair OTT acquisition policies | Bollywood News

Days after Kanu Behl’s Agra finally released in theatres, it appears the film is not receiving a fair number of screens or showtimes. In response, more than 50 members of the film fraternity—including Behl, Nandita Das, Rima Das, and Varun Grover—have issued a joint statement calling for equitable showtimes, transparency in programming, independent film showcase cycles, public-private exhibition support, and fair OTT acquisition policies. ARTICLE CONTINUES BELOW VIDEO The joint statement read: “Over the last decade, Indian independent cinema has carried the country’s creative identity to the world—premiering at Cannes, Venice, Berlin, Sundance, Locarno, Rotterdam and Busan. These films have expanded the idea of what Indian stories can be. They have been celebrated globally for their honesty, courage and craft.” The statement continued, “And yet, within India, these films continue to fight simply to be seen.” Citing the current struggle of Agra, the signatories said that despite the film’s international acclaim, awards, extensive media coverage, and evident audience interest, it is still struggling to secure fair and accessible showtimes across multiplexes. Fast Programming Languages Are In Demand

Fast Programming Languages Are In Demand

Fast programming languages are gaining popularity, TIOBE CEO Paul Jansen said in the TIOBE Programming Community Index in February. Fast programming languages he called out include C++, Go, and Rust. Also, according to the updated TIOBE rankings: Python, to which Jansen awarded the title “TIOBE’s programming language of the year 2024” in January, continued to skyrocket. C++ held onto its place at second from the top of the leaderboard. Mojo and Zig are following trajectories likely to bring them into the top 50, and reached #51 and #56 respectively in February. TIOBE Programming Index December 2024: Python Holds Lead

Python is headed toward a likely win of programming language of the year 2024, TIOBE CEO Paul Jansen predicted in the TIOBE Programming Community Index in December. According to the updated rankings: Python grew in popularity from 22.85% in the proprietary ranking system in November to 23.84% in December. In second, C++ rose from 10.64% in November to 10.82% in December, perhaps a sign of recovery after a long slide in popularity starting in February. In third, Java slightly grew in popularity from 9.6% to 9.72%. The TIOBE Programming Community Index shows trends in programming languages based on search engine volume. Best Programming Languages to Learn for In-Demand Jobs in 2025

Developers who want to push ahead in their profession will want to choose a programming language that appeals to them and paves the way for a promising career. That’s why it’s always advisable to learn and pursue a programming language that’s popular and in demand among top employers. To compile this list, I consulted the TIOBE Programming Community index for December 2024 and several other sites. The index is a useful indicator of the popularity of programming languages and is updated once a month. The ratings are based on the number of skilled engineers worldwide, courses, and third-party vendors. TIOBE says Google, Amazon, Wikipedia, Bing, and over 20 other websites are used to calculate the ratings. NB. The ‘change’ percentage below refers to the change in ratings in one year. TIOBE Index News October 2024: Rust Climbs the Ranks

After C fell from the top three last month, this month’s top programming languages saw relatively little change on the TIOBE Programming Community Index. However, the programming community is on the lookout for a new language with the three most desirable traits: security, speed, and an easy on-ramp for new programmers. This month, we’ll cover the state of search, Rust’s rise in popularity, and the remarkable progress of the Mojo language just one year after its release. At number one, Python jumped from 20.17% in September to 21.9% in October. In second place, C++ rose from 10.75% in September to 11.6%. In third, Java ascended from 9.45% to 10.51%. TIOBE Programming Language Index News: C Loses Its Crown

The top three programming languages on the TIOBE Programming Community Index saw a major shakeup in September, as C dropped to fourth place on the list. This is the lowest score C has ever held since its first appearance at the inception of the index in 2001. C moved from 9.17% in August to 8.89% in September. This continues the downward trend for C, which peaked at 16.56% in December 2022 and has largely fallen ever since. The TIOBE Programming Community Index shows trends in programming languages based on search engine volume. Trends year-over-year from the TIOBE Programming Community Index. Image: TIOBE Software Why did C’s popularity fall? “Large C programs are hard to maintain because of the lack of object oriented features,” wrote TIOBE Software CEO Paul Jansen in the monthly release of the TIOBE Index. “Now that embedded systems tend to grow in functionality and thus in code size, and since more and more embedded compilers have good C++ support, there is tendency to switch from C to C++.” In addition, the U.S. …
