File | Photo Credit: ANI On the second anniversary of India’s maiden solar mission, Aditya-L1 reaching the Lagrangian point (L1), the Indian Space Research Organisation (ISRO) on Tuesday (January 6, 2026) made the Announcement of Opportunity (AO) soliciting proposals for the first AO cycle observations. The Aditya-L1 spacecraft reached the L1 point on January 6, 2024, 127 days after it was launched on September 2, 2023, and since then has been making continuous and comprehensive observations of the Sun from the Sun–Earth L1 point. According to ISRO scientific data from the mission are regularly released in public domain for global scientific utilization. The All India Football Federation’s (AIFF) three-member committee on Wednesday proposed a short-term proposal in order to organise the Indian Super League (ISL) 2025-26 season. According to a report in The Times of India, the three-member committee met five ISL clubs including Mohun Bagan FC and NorthEast United (virtually) in the capital on Wednesday giving them 48 hours to revert with feedback. The proposal includes dividing the 14 teams into East and West conferences with seven teams each playing double-leg matches, a total of 42 matches per conference. Top four teams from each conference qualify for the championship round, where single matches will decide the champions. The matches will be played at two centralized venues and bottom three teams from each confidence will compete in single-leg matches in the relegation battle. Under the second proposal, teams, selected randomly, will play single leg matches accounting to six or seven home/away matches, making a total of 91 matches for 14 teams. Rising Northeast Summit attracts investment proposals worth Rs 4.3 lakh crore

The two-day Rising Northeast Investors Summit, where investment potentials of the northeastern states were showcased, could draw an unprecedented Rs 4.3 lakh crore worth of investment proposals to the region, Union Minister Jyotiraditya Scindia said, reported the PTI. The summit was inaugurated by Prime Minister Narendra Modi in New Delhi on May 23–24, where chief ministers of all the northeastern states, Union ministers, industry leaders, diplomats, and others took part. According to PTI, Scindia, the Minister for Development of North Eastern Region (DoNER), said the ministry has created eight high-level task forces across key sectors like agriculture, sports, investment promotion, tourism, economic corridors, infrastructure, textiles and handicrafts, and animal husbandry, allowing each state to chart its own roadmap, according to an official statement. He further said the DoNER ministry has been holding discussions with different stakeholders, including investors, foreign diplomats, and ambassadors, encouraging them to explore investment opportunities in the northeastern states. Defence council clears capital acquisition proposals worth over Rs 54,000 crore for Army, Navy, and Air Force

Procurement of 1350 HP engines for T-90 tanks, Varunastra Torpedoes & Airborne Early Warning & Control Aircraft Systems gets the nod. The Defence Acquisition Council (DAC), chaired by Defence Minister Rajnath Singh, on Thursday (March 20),  approved eight capital acquisition proposals worth over Rs 54,000 crore. The decision includes procurement of advanced engines for T-90 tanks for the Army, Varunastra torpedoes for the Navy, and Airborne Early Warning and Control (AEW&C) systems for the Air Force. For the Indian Army, the council gave the nod for the procurement of a 1,350 HP Engine to upgrade the present 1,000 HP Engine for the T-90 Tanks. This will enhance the battlefield mobility of these tanks, especially in the high-altitude area by increasing the power-to-weight ratio.  Navy to receive Varunastra Torpedoes  For the Indian Navy, AoN for procurement of Varunastra Torpedoes (Combat) was accorded by DAC. Varunastra Torpedo is an indigenously developed ship-launched anti-submarine torpedo developed by the Naval Science & Technological Laboratory.
