Velavan Senthilkumar crash out of German Open squash

National squash champion Velavan Senthilkumar suffered a straight-game defeat against Eain Yow Ng of Malaysia in the quarterfinals of the German Open in Hamburg on Friday. Playing against a higher-ranked opponent, Senthilkumar lost 7-11, 6-11, 4-11 to the fourth-seed Malaysian at the $50,000 PSA World Tour Bronze event. The first game saw both players staying close in scoring. A forehead drive that died in the back right corner from the Malaysian pushed the game to 4-5, and it was Yow Ng who got the better of the game from there. In the second and third games, Senthilkumar leaked errors resulting in a straight-game loss. “It’s always been a close affair (between us). For some reason, every time he (Senthil Kumar) upsets a few players to get to me,” Yow Ng told the official PSA website. “It’s getting tougher every time, but I also know my strengths, I know I can hang in there, and play the big points better, and I think it showed in the first and second games. I’m just happy to get …

‘Sharathulu Varthisthai’ movie review: Well-intended, albeit dull PSA

Chaitanya Rao Madadi and Bhoomi Shetty in the Telugu film ‘Sharathulu Varthisthai’ ‘Sharathulu Varthisthai’ (conditions apply) is a disclaimer in the fine print that we often do not pay attention to. The disclaimer can give scamsters a window to loot the gullible. What if a common man says enough is enough and decides to make scamsters accountable? Director Kumara Swamy, who has co-written this Telugu film with Peddinti Ashok Kumar, narrates a story based on true incidents. The lower middle-class setting in Karimnagar, the Telangana dialect and some of the performances, especially that of Chaitanya Rao, lend authenticity to the narrative but, despite its good intentions, the film ends up as a generic drama.  As the title credits roll, we hear conversations and an unexpected turn of events that hint crime. One of the brief scenes in the initial portions also underlines the political aspirations of one character and the goodwill earned by another character who is a basti leader. ‘Sharathulu Varthisthai’ (Telugu) Director: Kumara Swamy Cast: Chaitanya Rao Madadi, Bhoomi Shetty Storyline: A government …

PSA: Nintendo will shut down 3DS and Wii U online play on April 8th

We now know the date and time when Nintendo will disconnect online services for 3DS and Wii U software, which is scheduled for April 8th, 2024, at 4PM PT / 7PM ET. If you’re in Japan, it will be the morning of April 9th, at 9AM. If you’ve been using one of those systems, you should note this support page warning users that if you have an unused eShop balance tied to a Nintendo Network ID, you have until March 11th at 10PM PT to link the wallet with a Nintendo Account so that those funds can be used to buy items for use with the Nintendo Switch. Even if you don’t have a Switch, you can still create an account and merge the funds. Nintendo announced the spring shutdown a few months ago, explaining that while StreetPass, Pokémon Bank, and Poké Transporter will continue on for anyone still using those, SpotPass services and its Nintendo Badge Arcade are gone for good. As we noted at the time, the Wii U was one of Nintendo’s …

PSA: the Dark Sky’s iOS app will stop working imminently

As for what alternatives iPhone users have available (the Android app was axed in 2020), perhaps the most obvious is Apple’s own built-in Weather app. The company even has a support document titled “How Dark Sky users can use the Apple Weather app,” which talks about how features from the former have been added to the later. Though the Dark Sky app will “no longer provide weather data” according to a blog post from co-founder Adam Grossman, the service still has a tiny bit of life left in it. Developers will still be able to get weather data from its API until March 31st, 2023, despite Apple’s earlier announcement that it would be shut down alongside the app. (The company’s de-facto replacement is called WeatherKit, and even Android developers can integrate data from it if they want.) Likewise, the app’s website will also be around for three more months. Source link
