Rajnath Singh cuts convoy size after PM Modi’s fuel conservation appeal

Defence Minister Rajnath Singh has reduced the size of his official convoy to less than half following Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s appeal for fuel conservation in view of the ongoing crisis in West Asia and rising concerns over global energy stability. Several ministers and senior political leaders across the country have also started taking measures to reduce fuel consumption by downsizing official vehicle fleets and encouraging the use of public transport and virtual meetings. Chandrababu Naidu directed officials to immediately reduce the number of vehicles in his convoy by 50 per cent during district visits and public tours. PCMC withdraws Rs 50,000 fuel allowance proposal; Mayor cancelled foreign tour

The Pimpri Chinchwad Municipal Corporation (PCMC) on Wednesday withdrew a proposal to increase the monthly fuel allowance for civic officials to Rs 50,000 following criticism and concerns over fuel conservation. The proposal had appeared on the agenda during a Standing Committee meeting and quickly sparked public debate. PCMC Commissioner Vijay Suryawanshi confirmed that the proposal was cancelled during the meeting.
