CITU urges Haryana to extend deadline, publish Labour Code Rules in Hindi

The Centre of Indian Trade Unions (CITU) has demanded that the Haryana government extend the deadline for suggestions on draft Labour Code rules and publish them in Hindi, calling the current process a violation of workers’ rights. CITU state general secretary Jai Bhagwan and vice president Satveer Singh submitted a memorandum to Deputy Labour Commissioner Paramjit Dhull in Chandigarh in the absence of the State Labour Commissioner. The Union said the Haryana administration released draft rules for the Code on Wages on May 4, Industrial Relations Code on May 5, and Social Security Code on May 7, with a one-month window for amendments. CITU objected that the rules were issued only in English, unlike the Central Government’s versions which are in both Hindi and English. “Publishing rules only in English disregards regulations and makes it impossible for workers, union activists and stakeholders to read or suggest changes. This amounts to a disregard for the fundamental rights of workers,” the leaders said. They also argued that no consultations were held with trade unions or employer representatives …

EC likely to publish SIR supplementary voter list for West Bengal on March 23| India News

The Election Commission is likely to publish the first supplementary voters’ list for poll-bound West Bengal on Monday evening as part of the ongoing SIR exercise, officials said. Election Commission officials assist voters at a help desk camp for the Special Intensive Revision (SIR) of Electoral Rolls, in Sonagachi, Kolkata. (PTI) The list will be released in the same manner as the final electoral roll, with copies sent to district election officers and subsequently displayed at polling booths across the state, they said. “The adjudication process has been extensive, and a significant number of cases, over 27 lakh, have already been resolved after due verification. The supplementary list transparently incorporates these outcomes,” an EC official said. These 27 lakh voters were among 60 lakh who were marked as “under adjudication” in the final voters’ list published on February 28. “A large number of entries were kept under adjudication for further scrutiny. The supplementary list reflects the outcome of that verification process. The list will first be displayed at polling booths. It will subsequently be made …

Over 75 pc of RERA authorities failing to publish mandatory reports: FPCE

The Forum For People`s Collective Efforts (FPCE) has claimed that more than 75 per cent of State Real Estate Regulatory Authorities (RERA) across India have failed to publish their legally required annual reports, an official statement said. The findings come shortly after the Chief Justice of India criticised the functioning of RERA authorities. Under the Real Estate (Regulation and Development) Act, 2016, publishing an Annual Report is a statutory obligation under Section 78. However, FPCE’s research states that seven states — Karnataka, Tamil Nadu, West Bengal, Andhra Pradesh, Himachal Pradesh and Goa — have never published a single Annual Report, it said. Nine other states, including Maharashtra, Uttar Pradesh and Telangana, had initially published reports but later stopped doing so. Among the five states that are up to date — Gujarat, Odisha, Madhya Pradesh, Bihar and Jharkhand — none have followed the reporting format prescribed by the Ministry of Housing and Urban Affairs (MoHUA) in February 2023, according to FPCE, the statement said. Concerns over transparency FPCE President Abhay Upadhyay said that partial data shared …

No Voters Left In The Dark: SC Asks ECI To Publish 24 Lakh Names Deleted From Kerala Poll Rolls | India News

Last Updated:January 15, 2026, 21:47 IST The Supreme Court also directed the ECI to ‘consider the desirability’ of extending the deadline for filing claims and objections, preferably by at least two weeks Petitioners, including leaders from the CPI(M), IUML, and Congress, argued that the large-scale deletions—comprising roughly 7% of the state’s electorate—were conducted without providing sufficient notice or an opportunity for voters to defend their residency or citizenship status. (Representational image: News18) The Supreme Court on Thursday issued a vital directive to the Election Commission of India (ECI), mandating the public display of nearly 24 lakh names removed from the draft electoral rolls in Kerala. A bench led by Chief Justice Surya Kant and Justice Joymalya Bagchi emphasised the need for transparency, directing that the lists of excluded voters be published on official websites and at prominent public offices, such as Gram Panchayat buildings, to ensure affected citizens are aware of their status. The court’s intervention follows the conclusion of a Special Intensive Revision (SIR) exercise in Kerala, which has drawn intense criticism from political parties and civil …

Meta Platforms Inc. offered to publish listings from classified ads rival eBay Inc. on Facebook Marketplace in an effort to comply with a landmark European Union antitrust order that was accompanied by a EUR 798 million ($822 million or roughly Rs. 7,061 crore) fine.  The Menlo Park, California-based firm said Wednesday it will launch a test in Germany, France and the US that will enable “buyers to browse listings from eBay directly on Facebook Marketplace while completing their transaction on eBay.”  Despite the changes, the company said in a blog post that it continues to disagree with the EU’s decision, and that it’s pursuing an appeal through the bloc’s courts.
