The results of six students of Government Vocational Higher Secondary School, Thamarassery, whose SSLC results had been withheld by the government in connection with the death of Mohammed Shahabaz, a student of Muhammedali Jauhar Higher Secondary School at Elettil, have been published, Minister for General Education V. Sivankutty has said. This follows oral observations of the High Court of Kerala on Tuesday, the Minister said at a press conference here on Wednesday. Directions had also been given to publish the SSLC results of three students of PTM Higher Secondary School, Thazhekad, Perinthalmanna, who had been involved in clashes at the school. Steps had been taken for these students to apply for Plus One admission, the Minister said. The Kerala State Commission for Protection of Child Rights too had directed the Director of General Education to publish the results. Kerala has 2,78,10,942 voters in the final electoral roll published as part of the 2025 Special Summary Revision (SSR) on Monday. Of this, 1,43,69,092 are women, 1,34,41,490 are men while 360 are third gender voters. The final voters list has been prepared with January 1, 2025 as the qualifying date, Chief Electoral Officer (Kerala) Rathan U. Kelkar said. 89,907 removed In all, 63,564 people in various age brackets have been newly added to the voter list. As many as 89,907 voters on the absent, shifted and deceased (ASD) list were removed from the rolls. Of the total electorate, 2,88,285 are senior citizens (85 years and above constituting 1.04%, while 2,96,552 are young electors (18-19 age bracket, 1.07%). Persons with Disabilities (PwD) voters number 2,62,220, constituting 0.94%. Overseas (NRI) electors number 90,124. Majority of the voters are in the 40-49 age bracket (21.30%) followed by 30-39 age group (19.05%) and the 50-59 age group (18.84%). 232 new polling booths Malappuram has the highest number of electors and the highest number of women electors. Delimitation of local body wards: draft report on Phase 1 to be published on November 16

The Delimitation Commission will publish the draft report on Phase 1 of the delimitation of local body wards in Kerala on November 16. The first phase covers 17,337 wards in 941 grama panchayats, 3,241 wards in 87 municipalities and 421 wards in six corporations. District Collectors are expected to file their draft proposals to the Commission on delimiting the wards by November 5. At an online meeting on Saturday (October 19,2024), the Collectors informed the Delimitation Commission that the digital mapping of more than half of the wards have been completed. The Delimitation Commission is headed by State Election Commissioner A. Shajahan. Boundaries of all local body wards in the State are to be redrawn based on the 2011 Census figures. Commission member Rathan Kelkar, Commission secretary S. Josnamol and district collectors attended the meeting. The final electoral roll published in January 2023 had 2,67,95,581 voters, while the draft SSR list published on October 27, 2023 had 2,68,54,195 voters. According to the final list, the gender ratio among the electorate in Kerala stood at 1,068. There are 88,223 overseas and 2,62,213 persons with disabilities (PwD) electors. (File) New Delhi: Days after the AAP ran a successful poll campaign for Delhi’s civic body, the Lieutenant Governor has ordered that the party pay Rs 97 crore for state government ads that were allegedly used for its own promotion instead.  Earlier this month, the AAP, which holds power in the Delhi assembly since 2015, ended the 15-year reign of the BJP in the Municipal Corporation of Delhi (MCD).  Lt Governor VK Saxena has taken the action on ads because the the AAP allegedly violated orders of the the Supreme Court (2015) and the Delhi High Court (2016), besides norms set by the court-mandated Committee on Content Regulation in Government Advertising (2016), reported news agency ANI.
