If actions speak louder than words, Gukesh’s fist pump screamed, even though there was a library-esque hush in the playing hall at Warsaw. For a few seconds, the mask of inscrutability that Gukesh usually wears slipped. For a brief phase, Gukesh turned into the teenager that he is, celebrating a victory in a rapid game at a tournament like a tennis player would celebrate a point. If one of Gukesh’s most famous victories in chess had gained traction around the world for his opponent Magnus Carlsen smashing his fist on the table in anger, the Indian’s victory on Wednesday over Javokhir Sindarov will also be remembered for Gukesh pumping his fist with a pointed look into the crowd. The Plumbers Pump Their Brand| Entertainment News

You might occasionally forget while watching “Sonic the Hedgehog” or “A Minecraft Movie” that these big-screen comedy successes were originally videogames. There’s no possibility, however, that the Nintendo source material will leave your mind during 2023’s animated smash “The Super Mario Bros. Movie” or its sequel, “The Super Mario Galaxy Movie.” Rather than being adaptations, they’re more like fan-service brand extensions that simply recreate the characters and action that fans have loved for decades. A scene from ‘The Super Mario Galaxy Movie.’ The sequel is, like its predecessor, wall-to-wall animated frenzy, with chases, fights and handsomely detailed set pieces such as a topsy-turvy casino land where characters walk on walls and ceilings. Playing to the briefest attention spans, every few minutes characters rush from world to world to confront game-style obstacles (leaping across floating platforms, dodging fireballs) amid a color scheme that suggests an explosion at the Skittles factory. There’s nothing wrong with making movies for 5-year-olds. But, as directed by Aaron Horvath and Michael Jelenic and written by Matthew Fogel, “Galaxy” seems very much …

In a statement, the Manipur Petroleum Dealers Fraternity (MPDF) said they were deeply disappointed that the government has taken no concrete action regarding their security, even as a memorandum about it was submitted to Governor Ajay Kumar Bhalla on December 10. Manipur has been under President’s Rule since February after Chief Minister N. Biren Singh resigned amid criticisms of his government’s handling of the ethnic clashes that broke out in May 2023.
