A suspected short circuit in a telecom junction box caused a brief fire and smoke at Pune Railway Station on Monday afternoon. The situation was quickly brought under control within minutes, with no injuries or damage reported, official said. A motorcyclist was killed after a cement mixer truck overturned and crushed his two-wheeler in Maharashtra`s Pune city shortly after midnight on Wednesday, police said, reported PTI. The incident occurred around 12.30 am near a hospital at Navale Bridge in the Narhe area on the Katraj-Bavdhan route, reported PTI. The cement mixer truck suddenly overturned while negotiating a turn at the Navale chowk and fell onto the motorcycle, crushing the rider underneath, officials from Narhe police station said. The motorcyclist, identified as Rameshwar Machhindra Bhogale (31), a resident of Katraj and originally from Beed district, died on the spot, the police said, reported PTI. The truck driver, Gorakh Laxman Ransure (50), sustained minor head injuries and was taken for medical treatment, they said, reported PTI. A seven-year-old boy died after allegedly getting trapped inside a lift at a residential building in Nimbaj Nagar on Sinhgad Road in Maharashtra`s Pune district, officials said, reported the ANI.  The incident took place on Monday when the child had gone out to play near his home. According to the boy’s father, Shailesh Dhoot, the family began searching for Shivansh after he did not return to the playground, the news agency reported. He said the family became worried when his daughter confirmed that the boy had not reached the play area. During the search, the boy’s mother reportedly noticed that the lift was stuck. On checking, she found the child inside. The family broke open the lift door and discovered that the boy was trapped between the lift and the passage below. Fire brigade personnel and police rushed to the spot after being informed.
