Pune BPO murder: Accused was carrying kitchen knife in his laptop bag for three days, says Pune police chief | Pune News

Pune Police Commissioner Amitesh Kumar said on Wednesday that the accused, who allegedly murdered a 28-year-old woman accountant working for a multinational business process outsourcing (BPO) firm in Pune, was carrying a kitchen knife — the murder weapon — in his laptop bag for three days till he assaulted her on January 7. Both the accused and the victim worked as accountants for the same firm. The police commissioner said that use of metal detectors or sample checks would ensure such incidents don’t happen. Kumar was speaking to a gathering of representatives from the Information Technology (IT) and other corporate sector companies from Magarpatta City, addressing their various safety and security concerns, and other issues faced by them, including traffic. The interaction was organised under the purview of the seven-point action plan given by Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis for better functioning of government departments.
