Rajya Sabha chairman CP Radha Krishnan on Thursday instructed the government to conduct a thorough inquiry into the alleged “purification of a site” where Congress president Mallikarjun Kharge addressed a gathering in Uttarakhand and said action must be taken against the guilty. Congress chief Mallikarjun Kharge said he is capable of fighting. (PTI) The instruction came after Kharge spoke about the issue in the Upper House. He said some “BJP [Bharatiya Janata Party] people” carried out the purification at Haldwani’s Ram Lila Maidan, where he addressed the gathering. Union Home Minister Amit Shah on Friday said the victory of the BJP-led NDA in the Bihar polls was a mandate against infiltrators in the country because citizens will never favour those parties that support such illegal immigrants.  Shah said some political parties are opposing the ongoing special intensive revision (SIR) as they want to make sure that names of infiltrators remain on the electoral rolls. Calling on devotees to set aside apprehensions about the laddoo prasadam served at the Sri Venkateswara temple in Andhra Pradesh’s Tirupati district, officials of the board that manages the temple have said that they are now using ghee supplied by the Karnataka Milk Federation to prepare the laddoos. Moreover, purification rituals were performed in and around the temple “to ward off ill effects and restore the sanctity of laddoo prasadams”, the Tirumala Tirupati Devasthanams (TTD) said. This comes after allegations emerged that the ghee that was being used to make the laddoo had been adulterated with animal fat. A R Dairy Food Private Limited, the Tamil Nadu-based company that had been supplying the ghee, have denied allegations that their ghee was adulterated.
