2 min readMumbaiJun 17, 2026 09:00 PM IST The Bombay High Court on Tuesday allowed Bollywood actor Preity Zinta to file a suit against Google LLC and other entities, including social media platforms and websites, for breach of her personality rights, copyrights and erosion of goodwill through Artificial Intelligence (AI)-generated deepfake videos and other manipulated digital content. As several respondents-platforms are based outside Mumbai and the alleged online activities were within and beyond Mumbai, she sought leave to file her suit before the Bombay HC. Preity Zinta has become the latest celebrity to approach the Bombay HC seeking similar relief related to personality rights. In the past two years, the Bombay HC had granted relief to actors Kartik Aryan, Shatrughan Sinha, Shilpa Shetty, Akshay Kumar and Suneil Shetty, along with late veteran singer Asha Bhosale and singer Arijit Singh. A mother allegedly killed and buried her three-year-old daughter prior to her planned marriage to her live-in partner. According to the police, the divorced woman, Asha Latha, and her daughter, Durga, has been living in Auto Nagar area of Tirupati. Though the girl had gone missing recently, the mother allegedly remained indifferent to the development. When questioned by her mother, Nagarathnamma, Asha Latha began evading her questions. Growing suspicious, Nagarathnamma lodged a complaint with the Tirupati East police, who filed a missing case and started the investigation. When the suspicion fell on Asha Latha, the police interrogated her, after which she confessed to killing her daughter and burying the body near Swarnamukhi river in Papanaidupeta, on the outskirts of Tirupati. According to the police, Asha Latha had befriended a man named Reddy Kumar through a social media platform and had entered into a live-in relationship with him. The Delhi High Court has allowed former Narcotics Control Bureau (NCB) officer Sameer Wankhede to move to a Mumbai court with his defamation lawsuit against a Netflix show referencing the Aryan Khan case.
