Why Singeetham Srinivasa Rao banned Sing Geetham crew from referencing his masterpieces | Telugu News

Director Singeetham Srinivasa Rao once made a film with no dialogue. Pushpaka Vimana, released in 1987, was entirely silent, built on physical comedy and visual storytelling, and went on to be listed among the greatest Indian films ever made. Nearly four decades later, he decided to make another experimental film. One where characters sing their words to each other, and where the line between conversation and song does not exist. That film is Sing Geetham, and cinematographer Ankur C was the person behind the lens trying to figure out how to shoot something that had never been done before. “There was no point of reference. We were just figuring it out,” Ankur recounted in an exclusive interview with SCREEN. No templates, no old films The first thing Singeetham Srinivasa Rao made clear when the crew sat down together was what he would not allow. No references to his own earlier work. A director with Pushpaka Vimana, Aditya 369, and Bhairava Dweepam to his name, films that remain benchmarks of formal ambition in Indian cinema, he …

Love him or hate him, but there’s no denying that Kamal Haasan played a significant role in shaping modern Indian cinema. While he is widely regarded as one of the finest actors of all time in the country, Kamal is also hailed for his contributions to the evolution of the art form as a whole, introducing several cutting-edge technologies to Indian cinema. At 94, Indian director has toppled Clint Eastwood’s world record with his 61st film | Telugu News

There is a record that has stood in world cinema for years, held by one of Hollywood’s most enduring figures. It no longer belongs to Clint Eastwood. It belongs to a filmmaker from Gudur in Andhra Pradesh. Singeetham Srinivasa Rao, born in 1931, has helmed Sing Geetham, his 61st film, at the age of 94 years. Eastwood directed his most recent film, Juror No. 2, starting at 93 years, with the film releasing when he was 94 years. Singeetam has already surpassed both milestones and is still on the job. By any reasonable measure, he is now the oldest filmmaker in the world actively leading a major production. Sing Geetham is being described as India’s first musical fantasy. The film stars Ayaan, Ahilya Bamroo and Shalini Kondepudi, all relatively new faces. Music is composed by Devi Sri Prasad, in his first collaboration with Singeetham Srinivasa Rao. The screenplay is co-written by Singeetham with Gautami Challagulla, Shashank, Sreekar, Nanda Kishore Emani and Rahul V. Rajeshwar. The film is produced by Nag Ashwin under the Vyjayanthi Movies …

Kamal Haasan on 45-year-old movie idea finally releasing: ‘I am 71 and I get to see it’ | Telugu News

5 min readChennaiJun 7, 2026 04:08 PM IST Four decades ago, somewhere in Kerala, Kamal Haasan and director Singeetham Srinivasa Rao were sitting together talking about a film. Not Pushpaka Vimana, which they were already working on. Another film entirely, one where every line of dialogue would be sung. Nobody would agree to make it but they kept talking about it anyway. 45 years later, that film is releasing on June 11 as Sing Geetham, directed by Singeetham at the age of 94. Talking about the film at a pre-release event in Chennai, Kamal reminisced about the first time he met the director. “Our first movie happened rather casually when we met in Mumbai. That day we spoke about two films, Pushpaka Vimana and Sing Geetham. I was 20 when we were talking about it. Now, I am 71 and I get to see this movie. Some ideas are ageless, and that is why he is like that. He is full of ideas. And hence age is just a number. Like take two, take three, …
