He told officials to start work on these units as soon as possible, during the quarterly progress review meeting of various departments in the Suvarna Vidhana Soudha in Belagavi on November 29. The Minister told officials to complete all works taken up under MP and MLA local areas development grant schemes. The district in-charge minister also told officials to properly maintain all relevant documents for the process. In a significant step towards aiding persons with disabilities, the Telangana government has issued an order extending the Marriage Incentive Scheme to include marriages between two individuals with disabilities. Women and Child Welfare Minister Danasari Anasuya (Seethakka) has made special efforts in this regard. A government order to this effect was issued on Monday (May 19, 2025) by Secretary, Department of Women and Child Welfare Secretary, Anita Ramachandran. Under the scheme, the government will provide financial assistance of ₹1 lakh to couples in which both are persons with disabilities. The incentive will be given in the name of the wife. This decision marks a shift from the previous scheme. Previously, the Department of Women and Child Welfare had issued guidelines for the Marriage Incentive Award scheme, providing ₹1 lakh to couples where one of the partners was a person with disability and the other was not. Following two days of protests in the wake of deaths of two BTech students, including a death by suicide by a differently abled student, the Indian Institute of information Technology-Allahabad (IIIT-A) has decided to introduce a slew of measures. Farmer leader Jagjit Singh Dallewal, who was taken to PIMS Jalandhar late at night, was moved to a PWD guest house in the high-security Jalandhar Cantonment area on Thursday morning as Haryana and Punjab police began evicting protesting farmers from the Shambhu and Khanauri border points, which had remained blocked for over a year. The Public Works Department (PWD) has set a deadline of April 30 to fill 7,000 potholes on roads across the national capital, according to an official communication. The directive, issued to senior PWD officials, refers to a presentation made before the Delhi Council of Ministers on February 21 chaired by Chief Minister Rekha Gupta. “In this presentation, certain timelines were committed for inviting various tenders and commencement of work. It is, therefore, directed to all concerned officers to ensure adherence to these timelines,” the communication stated. As per the enclosed presentation, potholes are being filled using department maintenance vans. Additionally, the PWD has identified 20 lakh square meters of road patches requiring repairs. The tender process for these repairs is expected to be completed by March 15, with the target for completion also set for April 30.
