India qualifies for women’s cricket at the 2028 Los Angeles Olympics

The Indian women’s cricket team won the Nation’s first quota spot for the 2028 Los Angeles Olympics on Monday. The team secured their spot via their performance at the ongoing ICC Women’s T20 World Cup 2026, where they finished as the highest-placed team from the Asian continent. The highest-ranked eligible National Olympic Committees (NOCs) from four different continents, Asia, Europe, Africa, and Oceania, have been awarded one quota spot. The two top Asian nations, India and Sri Lanka, finished their group stage with six points each, but the former won the quota based on a better net run rate. The three semi-finalists, Australia, Great Britain and South Africa, have also been confirmed for the LA Olympics quota spot for their respective continents. Although the West Indies women’s team has also reached the semi-finals, they are not eligible for an Olympic quota as they are not recognised as a single IOC National Olympic Committee. As a composite team representing multiple Caribbean nations, a separate West Indies Nations Regional Tournament will be held to determine which individual …

Who Qualifies and How to File a Claim

Who Qualifies and How to File a Claim

People across the United States who bought certain Google devices or believe Google Assistant accidentally recorded their private conversations can now file claims in a $68 million class action settlement. The settlement resolves a long-running privacy lawsuit accusing Google and its parent company, Alphabet, of improperly collecting audio recordings through Google Assistant. The companies deny breaking any laws or violating users’ privacy rights, but agreed to settle the case to avoid the risks and costs of a trial. According to court-approved settlement documents, eligible users must have purchased a Google-made device in the US or its territories between May 18, 2016, and March 19, 2026, or have had their communications recorded or otherwise obtained by Google Assistant after what is known as a “False Accept,” when the assistant mistakenly believes it heard a wake phrase and starts listening. Who can receive a payment? The settlement creates two groups of eligible claimants. The first, called the Purchaser Settlement Class, covers anyone who bought a Google-made device during the qualifying period. The second, known as the Privacy …
