How Chiranjeevi’s Mana Shankara Vara Prasad Garu carried Telugu cinema through the first quarter of 2026 | Telugu News

One megastar. One blockbuster. Forty-odd films. That sums up Telugu cinema in the first three months of 2026, and it is as lopsided as it sounds. The first quarter followed a pattern that is becoming increasingly familiar in Tollywood: a festive rush in January that flatters the numbers, a February that exposes the pipeline’s fragility, and a March that arrives with hope but leaves with headlines of another big star’s box-office stumble. Sankranthi week always inflates Telugu cinema’s January numbers, and 2026 was no different. The difference this time was just how stark the gap was between the season’s one genuine success and everything else. Prabhas’ The Raja Saab arrived on January 9 carrying enormous weight. The actor was coming off Kalki 2898 AD, his biggest commercial outing yet, and director Maruthi had a solid track record. The horror-comedy premise was novel for a film of this scale. Opening day collections looked healthy at around Rs 100 crore worldwide. However, the film ended its run at Rs 146.04 crore India net as per Sacnilk, against …

Box Office report: Dhurandhar The Revenge rules first quarter, Border 2, Mardaani 3 shine, O’Romeo underwhelms

The Dhurandhar wave has taken over the box office in a way that any other thing seems blurred in its presence. Courtesy that, Bollywood has closed the first quarter office at the box office on an immense high. But not just Dhurandhar The Revenge, it’s been quite an exciting start to the year for Hindi films as even Border 2 emerged a hit. While there were some underwhelming performances with O’Romeo, Do Deewane Seher Mein, Tu Yaa Main and Ikkis, among others, Mardaani 3 managed to stay afloat doing good business too. Bollywood’s first quarter box office report Giving his take on the performance of Hindi films in the first quarter, trade analyst Taran Adarsh believes it all belonged to Dhurandhar. While Dhurandhar The Revenge arrived in March, the first two months of the year reverberated with the success of the first part as per him. “Dhurandhar has dominated the first quarter. Combined with Border 2, these two films have been a reboot button for Hindi films proving that you have to give audiences what they want, …

Indian top IT firms set for another tepid quarter on weak US demand, client spending

Indian top IT firms set for another tepid quarter on weak US demand, client spending

India’s information technology firms are expected to report ‌another muted quarter, as tepid demand in the U.S. and holiday-period client shutdowns continue to weigh on tech spending, nine brokerages said ahead of earnings. Brokerages expect the top six IT firms by revenue to post about 4% year-on-year revenue growth and a 5% rise in profit for the December quarter on average, reflecting prolonged demand softness, compared with 6.5% revenue growth in the September quarter. Indian software exporters last reported double-digit revenue growth in the March quarter of 2023, when digital transformation, cloud adoption and remote-work demand surged in the post-pandemic period. The broader $283 billion Indian IT industry continues to face macro headwinds, including uncertainty over U.S. tariffs, challenges from proposed $100,000 visa fees, and subdued client spending on concerns about growth in the world’s largest economy. India’s IT companies earn a significant share of their revenue from the United States, making the world’s largest economy crucial for the sector. Sector bellwether Accenture’s recent earnings beat Wall Street expectations on AI-led demand, though its unchanged …

India script comeback for the ages by scoring four in fourth quarter to win Junior Hockey World Cup bronze | Hockey News

India script comeback for the ages by scoring four in fourth quarter to win Junior Hockey World Cup bronze | Hockey News

After the semifinal thrashing against Germany, India’s head coach PR Sreejesh said it would be ‘painful’ if his wards returned home from Chennai empty-handed after all the work they had put in for a year leading up to the FIH Junior World Cup. For three quarters in the bronze medal match against Argentina on Wednesday, that word perfectly described India’s performance too: ‘painful’. Then, suddenly, it all changed. Staring at the real prospect of finishing in that most annoying of positions – fourth – for the third straight edition, India sparked into life, scoring four goals in the fourth quarter. Three of those came from Penalty Corners, and one from a Penalty Stroke as India ended a 9-year wait for a podium finish in this tournament, to finish with a bronze. When asked what the message was before final quarter, in typical Sreejesh style, the coach mouthed a ‘gaali’. Then, with actual words, he said: “I told them to bring that energy. You can’t take it easy when you are down 0-2. Once you come …

Apple says tariffs will cost it at least 0 million this quarter

Apple says tariffs will cost it at least $900 million this quarter

For the June quarter, we do expect the majority of iPhones sold in the US will have India as their country of origin, and Vietnam to be the country of origin for almost all iPad, Mac, Apple Watch, and AirPods products also sold in the US. China would continue to be the country or original for the vast majority of total product sales outside the US. If you look at the categories of tariffs that are applicable of us today, for the June quarter, most of our tariff exposure relates to the February IEEPA-related tariff at the rate of 20 percent, which applies to imports to the US for products that have China as their country of original. In addition, for China, there was an additional 125 percent tariff for imports of certain categories of products announced in April. For us, that’s some of our US AppleCare and accessories business, and brings the total rate in China for these products to at least 145 percent. Also, for transparency and clarity, the vast majority of our …

Messi and Inter Miami lost 1-0 in the first leg of the quarter final

Messi and Inter Miami lost 1-0 in the first leg of the quarter final

Lionel Messi and Co suffered their first defeat under new boss Javier Mascherano as the men in pink found it difficult to overcome a blistering strike from 21-year-old Nathan Ordaz in the early minutes of the second half. The goal-scorer nearly got sent off in the first half for a heated scuffle with Maxi Falcón, following which the match official let him off the hook with a yellow. Reacting to the same, LA head coach Steve Cherundolo said, “I applaud the decision not to send guys off the field, and I would say the same thing if it was the reverse.” Despite suffering from an adductor injury in recent games, which also saw the Argentine miss out on World Cup qualifiers last month, Messi played the whole 90 minutes on Thursday. The World Cup winner however, was restricted to three free-kicks, of which two failed to hit the target. Big names like NBA star Stephen Curry and Jimmy Butler were in attendance for the clash as Messi found it difficult to wriggle his way past …

Bollywood’s first quarter report card: Only Chhaava shines amid cold start to the box office

Apr 02, 2025 10:45 AM IST In Q1 2025, Chhaava stood out at the box office, while Sky Force and The Diplomat performed well. Despite trade dissatisfaction, there’s optimism for Q2. Bollywood’s box office ‘report card’ for the first quarter of 2025 projects a rather bleak picture. Only one film has done extraordinary business in the first three months of this year Chhaava, featuring Vicky Kaushal in the lead role. Two other films have just about managed to draw audiences to the theatres – Akshay Kumar’s Sky Force and The Diplomat, starring John Abraham.
