Parliament Winter Session Highlights: The winter session of Parliament will continue till December 20. New Delhi: The ninth day of the Winter Session of Parliament is expected to begin with the discussion on the Railways (Amendment) Bill 2024 in the Lok Sabha. On Wednesday, the Lower House saw a debate on the Bill, with Opposition MPs saying it would have a negative impact on the autonomy of railways and increase the potential for its privatisation. The Opposition will likely raise the issue of Congress leader Rahul Gandhi being stopped from visiting the violence-hit Sambhal in Uttar Pradesh to meet the families of those killed in the November 24 violence. Questions on developing new airports, privatisation of airports, national highways in Himachal Pradesh, and the development of Sabarimala airport will be asked in the Lok Sabha, among others. Image Source : PTI Heavy traffic at Ghazipur border in New Delhi A massive traffic jam was witnessed at the Ghazipur border on the Delhi-Meerut Expressway on Wednesday morning as Congress workers gathered there defying heavy barricading ahead of Rahul Gandhi’s visit to Sambhal in Uttar Pradesh. Things went out of hand when the public who were stranded on the highway due to the Congress programme. While commuters raised slogans against Lok Sabha LoP Rahul Gandhi at Ghazipur border earlier today amid traffic slowdown due to barricading related to his visit to violence-hit Sambhal, a scuffle also broke out between Congress workers and commuters.ย  The Uttar Pradesh Police has put up barricades and started checking vehicles to prevent any untoward incident. Rahul Gandhi is on way to UP’s Sambhal to meet victims of the November 24 violence New Delhi: Congress MPs Rahul Gandhi and Priyanka Gandhi Vadra were stopped at Ghazipur border when they were on their way to Sambhal in Uttar Pradesh, where violence erupted two weeks back over the survey of a mosque. The Gandhi siblings and several Congress workers were stopped by police officers, citing the sensitive law and order situation in the western UP town. The Leader of the Opposition in Lok Sabha has now requested the police to allow a delegation of 4-5 persons to proceed to Sambhal and meet those affected by the November 24 violence. The police officers have said they would consult their seniors and get back. Later, the officers refused permission to the Congress leaders to proceed to Sambhal.
